Evil HERO Dead-End Prison – #SUDA-EN002
If you control a Fusion Monster that must be Special Summoned with “Dark Fusion”, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). You can only Special Summon “Evil HERO Dead-End Prison” once per turn this way. You can send 1 “HERO” monster from your Deck to the GY; if you Fusion Summon a “HERO” monster this turn, this face-up card can be used as a substitute for 1 material mentioned by name, but all other Fusion Materials must be correct. You can only use this effect of “Evil HERO Dead-End Prison” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Evil HERO time on CoTD, the sub-archetype of the HERO archetype getting some new support, starting with Evil HERO Dead-End Prison.
Level 4 that can be an extender if you control a Fusion that was summoned using “Dark Fusion”. Not bad of a start, and summoning Dead-End Prison this way is a once per turn. Dead-End Prison is a Foolish Burial for HERO monsters, which will set up stuff like Miracle Fusion, Dark Contact, and Dark Calling, as well as put stuff like Dasher or Malicious into the grave, or send Shadow Mist to grab you another HERO monster. Searchable with the new Evil Assault Spell, which is Evil RoTA with a discard for cost (not terrible with Dark Fusion and imitators of Dark Fusion using the grave, and Evil Assault next turn can banish itself to search another “Dark Fusion”). Dead-End Prison acts also like Prisma, though it doesn’t have to copy the same like Prisma does when it does its psudo-Foolish Burial effect.
There are going to be HERO monsters you run because you need them as materials for certain Evil HERO Fusion Monsters but you don’t want to draw them, Dead-End Prison is another end-around to getting those into the grave or taking the position entirely without having to run them (which is what Prisma needed you to do). Evil HERO lacked a sense of speed that made you dump them into the grave while getting the better pieces of their Fusion Monsters to your hand/on the field because they were more useful or had more synergy with the HERO support that was around.
Dead-End Prison adds a bit of speed to the Evil HERO part of the HERO archetype by giving it a Foolish Burial and Fusion sub without having to copy names like Prisma. Allowing it to be an extender if you were able to shotgun a Dark Fusion (or substitute for it), you can summon Prisma and Dead-End Prison in the same turn, double Foolish Burial, and potentially get another Dark Fusion summon off in the same turn. Evil HERO needed some consistency and speed and Dead-End Prison is that with an extender effect to boot.

Annual HERO support is here, this time in the form of the rare Evil HERO monsters, and we start the week with one of the better cards for the HERO Deck in general for this support: Evil HERO Dead-End Prison.
Dead-End Prison is a Level 4 LIGHT Rock with 1700 ATK and 1100 DEF. Stats are decent on a Level 4 monster, LIGHT is nice, and Rock does mean HERO should have access to Evil HERO Dark Gaia now. If you control a Fusion Monster that must be summoned with Dark Fusion, you can Special Summon this card from the hand, making for a decent extender if you can combo with Evil HERO stuff already and have a monster like Malicious Bane on the field. You can only summon it once per turn this way, which is fine. You can send any HERO monster from the Deck to the graveyard so that if you would Fusion Summon a HERO monster, you can use this face-up monster as a substitute for 1 material mentioned on that monster by name. Before the Evil HERO support, the only monster HERO played that would qualify for this was Shining Neos Wingman, but there are some Evil HERO Fusions you can summon off this now you’ll want for your combo that lists specific monsters as material (but the other materials must be correct), so this is good to ensure you don’t have to play inferior monsters in your Deck. Also being able to send any HERO from Deck to the grave is good for combo to get Malicious or Sinister Necrom into the graveyard to get to more bodies, or send Shadow Mist to search another HERO monster if you need one. HOPT on this effect, which is standard. Dead-End Prison is good support for the HERO Deck. The extender effect might not come up that often, but there are tons of ways that HERO can summon this via cards like Evil Assault or Sinister Necrom, plus the Fusion Sub effect is nice for getting HERO monsters into the grave for combo and using this to replace a monster you otherwise wouldn’t want to run to summon your HERO monsters that help your plays. You technically only need 1 of these, as there are many ways to get to it in the Deck, but it’s good enough that some might be able to warrant 2.

We’re finally covering the title theme of Supreme Darkness this week as we begin our coverage of the yearly-mandated HERO support– fortunately, this time they’re focusing on the long-forgotten Evil HERO sub-archetype. Evil HERO Dead-End Prison is first on the list, a level 4 LIGHT Rock monster. You might only know of Nibiru, the Primal Being as another notable LIGHT Rock, but for all intents and purposes, Prison is only relevant as a HERO; not only will the standard HERO bells and whistles like Elemental HERO Stratos search it, dedicated Evil HERO cards like Evil Assault and Evil HERO Sinister Necrom will as well. Its stats are fine enough for a level 4, with only 1700 attack and 1100 defense, which obviously don’t compare to Evil HERO Adusted Gold’s magnificent 2100 attack (this is a joke).
Prison’s first effect will let you Special Summon it directly from your hand once per turn as long as you control any Fusion monster that must be Special Summoned with Dark Fusion. That’s basically every Evil HERO Fusion monster, including the most important one that we’ll get to later this week. That said, the vast majority of the time you’d rather Special Summon Prison with Evil Assault instead because it’s a little awkward to bridge Prison into your combos. Prison’s other effect is essentially a souped up version of Elemental HERO Prisma, being a hard once per turn effect to send a HERO from your deck to the Graveyard and allowing Prison to be used as a named Fusion substitute for any HERO monster, with the obligatory caveat of requiring the other materials to be correct. This is yet another excellent way to get Destiny HERO Malicious or Necrom into the Graveyard for your combos, or sending Elemental HERO Shadow Mist for its search effect if you don’t need Mask Change; being able to field Evil HERO Inferno Wing – Backfire (more on that later this week) without Elemental HERO Avian or Burstinatrix is just a cherry on top. Unfortunately, the Fusion substitution only lasts that turn, so you’ll still have to run the original Elemental HERO Neos if you want to summon Elemental HERO Shining Neos Wingman during your opponent’s turn. Prison has excellent combo potential overall; it’s only really held back because it’s so reliant on the Evil HERO engine for access.
+Fantastic combo applications by dumping a HERO and being a Fusion substitute
+Fairly easy to access through Evil Assault and Adusted Gold
-Self-summon requires an Evil HERO Fusion which isn’t very easy
-Fusion substitution effect only lasts that turn

Art: 3.5/5 At first I thought it was a crystal dragon thing which would’ve been fine, but upon closer inspection it actually has a humanoid face. Creepy! I guess it’s supposed to be some analogue to Diamond Dude or something.
