David Fanany Player since 1995 This is a very strong card all around. As a creature, the Fae comes down early and is hard for a lot of aggro creatures to get past, not to mention the fact it can’t really die. And they can also grant an actual literal wish, that operates exactly like the original Wishes from Judgment. That effect has always made for powerful decks in every format they’ve been legal, although that depends a lot on the cost and the speed of the format. Four mana may be high for Modern or Legacy, though I could see it doing a lot of cool things in Standard, especially as the format starts to expand with Theros Beyond Death and Ikoria. Wishes have always been rather alluring cards for various reasons since they showed up for the first time in Judgment, turning your sideboard into a toolbox of hope and wonder. Fae of Wishes is a card that offers a role as a reusable Wish card, which is a rare thing; Granted is an expensive effect that can’t hit creatures, but you can then cast Fae of Wishes as a blocker. Or use it as a blocker early (a 1/4 with flying is pretty legit that way), bounce it with its activated ability when the time is right, and then cast it to get a card. However you want to roll works, and this is a potentially powerful effect. It’s a hard-to-kill creature with rather nice upside if you can get it off, but even just the 1/4 for 2 is enough incentive to see this as a decent creature with crazy upside later in the game.
