The “second card each turn” check is getting so common that I can’t help but wonder if it’ll get an official name. Faerie Mastermind probably wouldn’t get it, though, since it checks whether your opponent did it, so it can punish them, where most such effects are based on your own actions. It might seem very simple and even a little unassuming, but its ability is much more threatening than it first appears – it’s on curve and evasive, it has flash and can come in as a response to card-drawing spells, and it draws cards itself later in the game. And given its color and creature types, it’s most likely backed up by other disruptive spells. I think this card has good prospects, as a sort of Faerie analogue of Dark Confidant.

A fairly interesting way to “punish” card draw, Faerie Mastermind can get you a lot of advantage if an opponent is sloppy. Flash means that you oft will be able to bring this in to respond to a cantrip of some kind, and it’s a good way of making opponents think about how they want to stagger their card draw. Note that it tracks each opponent and each turn, which makes the four-mana “everyone draws” effect potentially net a lucrative windfall with a lot of people at the table. On top of that, it is a two-power evasive creature; if the flood of cards won’t get you there on its own, this may just help you get the rest of the way there. I think this is a solid creature overall and a nice inclusion to Faeries.dec, wherever it’s legal.
