Crunch$G Once again we have the card I mentioned yesterday was on my list here for reviewing since it’s our Number 6 card, Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay. Phantazmay is a Level 7 DARK Dragon with 2400 ATK and 1800 DEF. Fine stats for being a Level 7, I still like DARK and I still like Dragon. If your opponent Special Summons a Link Monster or Monsters (note it doesn’t have to be a Link Summon, but it most likely is) at any moment that isn’t the Damage Step, you can Special Summon this card from the hand, draw cards equal to the number of Link Monsters your opponent controls +1 and then put cards back from your hand to the Deck equal to the number of Link Monsters your opponent controls. It’s a guaranteed Plus 1 while at the same time putting potential brick cards back into your Deck and letting you see some new cards from your Deck that might help you out better, that’s honestly pretty good to have. Saryuja is good for letting you see more cards, so of course this would be similar since it does have a similar effect, and you draw more cards the more your opponent put into their Link Summons. Also this card has a Quick Effect where if they activate a card or effect that targets a monster you control, you can discard a card to negate the activation and destroy that card. Extra targeting protection is nice and it helps pay for itself since if you used its effect to summon, you have one more card than you originally started with, though the hand size is the same before and after you used this card’s first effect. It’s a very strong hand trap that doubles as targeting negation for any of your monsters, it’s pretty good as long as the format has players Link Summoning. King of Lullaby Hello Pojo Fans, Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay drops from the hand in at our #6 spot. With the Ghost Girls covering the hand trap portion of the game it was nice to see something new come about. With Master Rule 5 in effect I don’t know how much we’ll be seeing FDP, but there will still be Link Monsters that get summoned. Because of that, FDP will likely still have a place in the side deck more than the main deck. You get a decent-sized Dragon on the field for your opponent Link Summoning, then get a +1 at the end of the second effect, not too shabby. The draw and cycle back effect is a better version of Magical Mallet to fix your hand and get to the cards you need. FDP has low DEF for a Level 7 but the negation and destruction ability each turn makes up for it. Targeting monster effects are still prevalent in the game and it’s good to have a counter to something like that. FDP stops stuff like Gizmek, Unicorn, Cerberus, Silquitous, etc. At it’s least it is a monster that can protect you for a turn from direct damage and get you a hand fix/+1. At most it is all that and a disruption to your opponents plays. Advanced-4/5- Once Master Rule 5 starts to see play though, we’ll see if this will need changing. Art-4/5 Until Next Time |

My #6: Magical Musketeer Max Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay is a Level 7, Dark/Dragon Monster, with 2400 attack and 1800 defense. None of that inspires you much for a Level 7 but wow, does this card do a lot. A Special Summon a Link Monster(s) by your opponent (save the Damage Step) lets you Special Summon this card from your Hand. Then there’s an effect more or less equivalent to Magical Mallet. You Draw cards equal to the number of Link Monsters your opponent controls +1 and then shuffle cards back into your Deck equal to (again) the number of Link Monsters they control. So you do still net a +1, and since you get the decision as to what you keep and cycle back. that’s a great thing. Also, if your opponent happens to have a few Links out, this only nets you more cards and resources, even just to see. Lastly, is a Quick Effect, where if your opponent Targets a Monster(s) you control via Monster or Card Effect, you can discard a card to negate the activation of said card. It’s destroyed if you’re successful in the negation of it. Each effect is once per turn. Which is appropriate, to prevent insane Drawing and possibly Deckout, as well as a once per turn negate/destruction effect being fair. Rating: 4.25/5 Art: 4.5/5 Really like this, I love the artwork of the wings and the sword the most, but that sky looks great too. The armor is a bit bland to me, but still fun on the Dragon. |
