Hello Pojo Fans,

Fire Fists get a Ritual Monster we’ll review later in the week, but they also get a Ritual Spell that is a Continuous Spell: Fire Formation – Domei.

Being a Fire Formation Spell, it can be utilized with all other Fire Fist monster effects. Acts like any Ritual Spell card, but if it leaves the field it will pay for itself at the very least. Special Summoning a Fire Fist from the grave usually will kick its effect off, netting you a plus, but it could just be a way to set up another Xyz, Link, or Synchro summon. While not needing to pop your Fire Formation spell/trap cards while Eagle is on the field is a great effect, this card welcomes the way Fire Fists have had to play up until now. Both the Ritual Monster and this Ritual Spell of sorts are searchable with the archetype searchers, eliminating the need for extra cards. Synergy is something an archetype needs to be successful and Fire Fists have it even when introducing something like a Ritual Monster.

Domei is like if all Ritual Spell cards had a banish effect in the graveyard, but most don’t, which put Domei in a league of its own.

The archetype is based around Fire Formations, so of course we were going to cover a new one, even though it easily spoils the end of the week’s card. Either way, here’s Fire Formation – Domei.

Domei is a Continuous Spell that upon activation lets you Ritual Summon any Beast-Warrior Ritual Monster by tributing monsters in your hand and/or on your side of the field whose Levels equal or exceed the Level of the Ritual Monster. There are as of this moment two cards this can Ritual Summon, the first being the Level 6 Lycanthrope which wasn’t good in 2007 and hasn’t aged well, and the other is the Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Eland (and we’ll once again get to him soon enough). Funny that both are Level 6, but I imagine we’ll get other Beast-Warrior Rituals of different Levels someday. I can appreciate this being generic Beast-Warrior support for Ritual Summoning, though this means Fire Fists cannot access Pre-Preparation of Rites, but the archetype already has enough ways to get to Fire Fist and Fire Formation cards to where they didn’t need Pre-Prep setting up their Ritual plays. Domei also has an effect where if it is sent face-up from the Spell/Trap Zone to the graveyard, you can revive any Fire Fist monster. Better than having that miniscule 100 ATK boost for Beast-Warriors all the old Fire Formation Spells had, plus it’s a reason to not want to use Eagle’s effect to ignore the cost, since reviving your monsters for plays is great considering a lot of the old Fire Fist monsters don’t have hard once per turn clauses. This card, however, does have a hard once per turn on the revival and a hard once per turn to activate so you can’t keep Ritual Summoning. Domei is a good card and is highly searchable alongside the Ritual to get it out quicker, so 1 or 2 is fine since it is also recyclable as well.

It’s only appropriate to at least cover one theme Magic or Trap given that they’re so essential to what the Deck does.  Midweek brings us to Fire Formation-Domei, which is a Continuous Magic card.  The first take here is an interesting Ritual asset, letting you Ritual Summon a Beast-Warrior Monster (from the Hand) by Tributing necessary Monsters from your Hand or Field (not and/or) upon activating this.

You have flexibility in the Level totaling above or equaling the Level of the Ritual you choose to Summon.  I appreciate that, which leaves things a little more open for you.  Destruction of this card from the Field (while face-up, and by either player, in any manner) gets you a Special Summon of a theme Monster from your Graveyard.  Another fair and honest 1-for-1 as we’ve seen this week.

The latter effect is once per turn, and you can only play one of these a turn to keep it that way, because as we’ve seen and discussed this week, the Brotherhood are too fast as is, so we can’t be Special Summoning a Field full of Fire Fist all at once every turn.  The Ritual aspect here is good, if only just to have, but the money here is in the second half.  A solid card for various reason in the theme.

Art:  3.5/5  I like the Monsters and Dragon in the back there, but the weather (storm, hurricane, tornado?) in the back I’m not such a fan of.  They’re busy in a fight though, I hope they win
