Fire King Sanctuary is another Terraforming for the archetype to use.
Fire King Sanctuary is a Continuous Spell that is your archetype’s Terraforming, getting you to Fire King Island. Alone this would be good enough to play, as FKI is your staple searcher for the archetype and key to the strategy, however, Sanctuary has another effect that makes the archetype’s mechanic go into overdrive. Protection each turn against destruction of your Fire King Island in exchange for a FIRE monster on field or in hand triggers all your Fire King monsters destruction Special Summon abilities, as well as sets up Standby Phase effect(s) of all your Fire King monsters. It would have been even better if you could have used this card’s ability for any “Fire King” or “Fire King Island” card, however protecting your archetype’s best non-monster is pretty good.
FIRE Xyz Summon during either turn after your opponent Special Summons a monster(s) opens up some interruption chances on your opponent’s turn. You can only use Fire King monsters, but for the most part you’ll only be using Fire King monsters in the archetype. Ranks 3, 4, and 8 are your prime choices and leaves you with a lot to play with. Brotherhood of The Fire Fist – Tiger King, Crooked Cook, Dugares the Timeless, Wind-up Zenmaines, and the Xyz for the archetype: Garunix Eternity, Hyang of the Fire Kings. Zenmaines will provide a wall in addition to potential End Phase destruction, Crooked Cook can activate a slew of Fire King effects through its wiping of your field with a single detach from him, and Garunix nukes the board upon Xyz Summon (making it the best for this Xyz Summon ability of Sanctuary).
Fire King Sanctuary is a far more involved version of Terraforming. You get your all-important Field Spell to start combos, you get protection that works with combos in your archetype, and you get a shot to interrupt your opponent on their turn if you have the monsters available on the field for an Xyz Summon.

Konami decided to leave the genre of Link-1s that search the archetypal Field Spell for Fire Kings and instead went with the Continuous Spell that activates the Field Spell from Deck with Fire King Sanctuary.
Sanctuary is a Continuous Spell that upon activation can let you activate a copy of Fire King Island directly from your Deck, which is great considering that’s the main searcher for the archetype that also destroys your cards to trigger their effects. Once per turn, if a card in your Field Zone would be destroyed by a card effect, you can destroy a FIRE monster in your hand or face-up on your field instead, which prevents Island from destroying your whole field upon it leaving the board and leaving you wide open on the opponent’s turn from an OTK. Finally, once per turn, if the opponent Special Summons a monster(s), you can immediately after this effect resolves, Xyz Summon any FIRE Xyz by using Fire King monsters you control as material, which would get you to the brand new Rank 8 for a board wipe more than likely, though you can make Rank 4s like Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Tiger King if you have to and want to grab a Tenki. You can only activate 1 of these a turn, so hope it resolves and gets you to your Island I guess. Sanctuary is a solid addition to the archetype since it does get you to one of your most important pieces and protects it. The potential to Xyz Summon a monster that’ll wipe the opponent’s board on their turn is also nice. This does ensure you don’t have to max out on Fire King Island anymore, but you don’t need to max on this as well. A 2/2 ratio should work, especially since it’s searchable via Ponix.

It’s weird for an archetype to get two Field Spells, so why not a Continuous Spell instead? Fire King Sanctuary is a new Continuous Spell for the Fire King archetype, searchable with Legendary Fire King Ponix (and more slowly with Fire King Avatar Barong). You can only activate it once per turn, which is to be expected since its first effect triggers when it’s activated, letting you place Fire King Island directly to your Field Zone. Some might grumble about the new trend of directly placed backrow, though it’s important to note you’re still susceptible to Fire King Isand itself getting zinged by Ash Blossom or Droll. Either way, very important! Sanctuary has two other effects, both of them soft once per turn; first, you can save a card in your Field Zone from being destroyed by card effect by destroying FIRE monster in your hand or face-up on your field. This effect is clearly meant to both protect Fire King Island and generate advantage off of protecting it in the process. While it’s not extremely reliable, it’s a nice bonus and can leave your opponent tearing their hair out trying to get rid of Island. That said, they’re better off getting rid of Sanctuary instead because of its last effect, letting you Xyz Summon a FIRE Xyz monster using Fire King monsters you control if your opponent Special Summons a monster. This is very important for accessing your main disruption through Fire King’s new boss, so you’ll want to keep Sanctuary alive– it’s arguably more important than Island. This brings us to Sanctuary’s main downfall; because your opponent has to Special Summon first, there’s nothing stopping them from deleting it with Cosmic Cyclone or Lightning Storm, leaving you with a weak board. Overall it’s an essential combo piece, but since it doesn’t really start combos by itself, most people go with just one or two copies.
+Staple combo piece searchable from Ponix
+Can circumvent common Hand Traps
-Can’t combo by itself
-Vulnerable to backrow removal
