Flubs is a great example of every part of a card coming together just right. His name and flavor text make you expect absolute nonsense from his game text, and when you first see it, it reads like lines cut from that one Sabrina Carpenter song. But when you actually start thinking about it and/or channeling your inner Wonderland poet, it becomes an engine. All you have to do is make sure you have no cards in hand, don’t have net gains in card drawing, and somehow get an advantage along the way. Easy, right? Not always, though I will say that the rest of his abilities help you reach that point in different ways. Further, casual brewers are already well aware of this type of effect, thanks to cards like Infernal Sovereign (or Null Profusion/Recycle if you go back that far). Flubs’ colors have just as many ways to take advantage of the abilities, so with some careful deckbuilding, he’ll very much win games.
Plus, he’s way cuter than any of those previous cards, which counts for a lot.

Limited: N/A (from the Commander set, definitely made for Commander)

Flubs, the Fool was in the Commander subset, so that’s reflected in his scores.
A frog of foolish inclination seems fitting for April Fools’ Day, and so here we are with a rather tricky toad. Flubs, the Fool is interesting because it does a lot of little things, and it can do them quite well…if you’re playing with a mostly empty hand. While the discard can be spun to advantage, it’s definitely not nearly as nice as cantripping on just about everything. The end result is a fascinating sort of engine that can also block acceptably by virtue of its good toughness. It won’t win games alone, but it can grease the wheels to get closer to that point, and that can definitely be forth it.
Constructed: 3 (a bit clunky with its mana cost and its weird effect, but it can work with a bit of massaging)
Casual: 3.5
Limited: N/A (unlikely to show up here)
Multiplayer: 3
Commander [EDH]: 4 (solid colors for this effect, and you can really grind a game out with a bit more support)
