Character Bios: Salem

Salem is the son of Führer King Bradley (Wrath in manga, Pride in anime). He looks up to his father and is obviously unaware of Bradley's true nature. It is not known how much affection Bradley has for his son, but when Mustang questions Bradley on how Salem would react if he ever knew the truth, Bradley remarks that Salem "cannot be my weakness". In the manga, he wants to meet Edward, who he refers to as the "tiny alchemist Edward-san". Also, in the manga, at first Al thinks that Salem is proof that Bradley is human (because homunculi cannot reproduce), but Knox informs everyone that Salem was in fact adopted.

In the anime, Salem appears in the final episodes in King Bradley's household as his (possibly adopted) son. Just as the final confrontation between Pride and Mustang occurs, Salem brings forth his father's "treasure", a skull belonging to his corporeal body, making him vulnerable to Mustang's attacks. Severely weakened, Bradley nevertheless tries to choke his "son" for inadvertently enabling his demise, and is then immolated by Mustang. Salem is last seen being carried out of the Führer's burning residence in Roy Mustang's arms. It is unknown if he survived.
