Fullmetal Alchemist Anime
Written by AuronLuvr Fifteen-year-old Edward Elric and his younger brother, Alphonse, are on a mission. They need to find a certain tool that will help them correct their mistakes and return their lives to the way they used to be. The two boys are searching for the legendary Philosopher's Stone, a relic which will make their dreams become a reality. One of their stops on this hunt is in the desert town of Lior, known for it's famous pastor, Father Cornello, who was said to have the ability to bring the dead back to life. With the help of a young lady named Rose, Ed and Al dig up some dirt on the priest, trying to prove whether or not his stone is the real deal. Once Ed and Al learn that Cornello uses alchemy to bring the dead to life, they realize he is a fraud, making them realize whether or not he has the stone, and that the dead can never be brought back to life. But Cornello assured Rose that he did in fact have that power, and said he was going to prove it to her by bringing back her dead boyfriend. When Ed and Al hear about this, they try to convince Rose that Cornello is a phony, but unfortunately Rose does not believe them. The episode continues with Ed and Al trying once again make Rose believe that Cornello was lying to her with a fake stone, and this time they are very close to success, until Cornello comes to crash the conversion. Cornello says that he will prove to Rose once and for all that he does have the real Philosopher's Stone, and that he can unleash its power when he fights Ed in a sandy battle arena. Cornello sends chimeras out left and right, at all of Ed's limbs, but to Cornello's surprise, Ed has two artificial limbs, called automail, for his right arm and left leg that are revealed when his clothes are torn. The episode finally closes when Cornello speaks his ending line of "You are the Fullmetal Alchemist!" leaving this episode as a cliff-hanger. My Opinion: I thought this episode was great, but a weird place to start for such a series. It helps you realize who Ed and Al are, what they do, and gives you an idea of what they believe in, which will be very important later on in the series. This episode got me into the series, and I’m sure it’ll do the same to you. Enjoy! Click here to go back to Pojo's FMA Anime Section. |
