Pojo's FMA Card of the Day
MILLER |
1.5"
Culverin is technically Paninya's leg from
Episode 26. This is the reason it is a Auto-Mail
and Weapon. While I can't recall what Paninya
used her Culverin for, I'm fairly certain it is
not what the card does.
This card is almost exclusively used in Basque
Grand decks. While it seems like it could be of
great use by defeating one character and setting
another, it is probably one of the worst
high-cost attachments out there.
It is quite possibly the worst attachment ever
in sealed, as it costs 12. In constructed, it
still costs 12, so it won't see many uses there
either.
Sealed: 1/5-12 cost...terrible, terrible card
for this format.
Constructed: 2/5-Basque Grand can use it, but
that's it.

Greetings everyone! Well this is my first COTD
review so I guess I better introduce myself. I’m
Darktaro and I’m the State Alchemist from the
Bay Area side of Northern California. Thanks to
the Pojo staff for letting me review. Now
without further ado let’s take a look at the
next attachment!
1.5” Culverin, a weapon that fellow auto-mail
enthusiast Paninya used against Ed.
Unfortunately not as good in the game as it was
for Paninya in the show. First off, the 12 cost
means that you are going to either EE a lot to
get it down on a character which leaves you at a
huge hand disadvantage, or wait until level 4 to
play it and how reliable is it to get to level 4
every game? The second problem lies in the
attachments ability. First off the 12 strength
requirement means that few characters outside of
some level 4’s that can play the ability for
free which means you’ll be EEing even more cards
to play it. Also, if you use the ability,
chances are you just set your biggest ally.
The ability itself, however, is pretty nice
essentially taking out two allies for the price
of one. When used at the right time, say after
you play Catch the Train, the ability can be
brutal. A few combos such as Basque Grand,
Tucker’s Patron, The Sinners Body and Father
Cornello, Power Monger to drop high cost allies
make it playable too.
Pros:
-The ability itself is good, disabling two of
your opponents characters
-Has the auto-mail keyword
Cons:
-The attachment cost is too high for most
characters
-The attribute cost is too high for most
characters
-Unique means it is not searchable with Rockbell
Auto-Mail
-There are much better weapons you can play on
your characters
Sealed:1/5-You will most likely lose your entire
hand just to play it and use the ability
Constructed:2/5-Outside of a Basque Grand,
Tucker’s Patron or Father Cornello Power Monger
deck, chances are you won’t be able to play it
reliably.

Wow. Big cost for a big effect. There are very
few ways to use this without discarding a lot of
cards for EE. Using Basque Grand, Tucker's
Patron would be your best bet, with Law, Bull
Headed being the next best choice. Either way,
you're also going to need a 3-4 point strength
boost in order to use it for free. So basically
I can only see this getting played in Basque
Grand attachment deck, which gets owned by
Prison Guards =D.
Rating: 1/5 (Too Expensive!!)

One of the most anticipated AG cards, this
missile launcher was previewed at midnight on
the morning of July 4th.
However, it's power is slightly less than
imagined at first. Not only does this card cost
12 to attach, the ability costs 12 Strength to
use, not to mention you have to set your
character. However, it does provide a lot of
character control.
This is a rebel's best friend, but besides that,
I am not too sure I see a whole lot of use. It
costs way too much to be as useful as originally
thought.
Sealed: 1/5 - Wow, this card is way to big to
even be desired in a sealed/draft style.
Constructed: 2.5/5 - While it does provide a lot
of control, it is way too expensive to be very
effective, unless it is planned to be in a Rebel
faction deck.
