Armstrong, Expert Soldier
6 Command Level 1
Human * Soldier * State Alchemist * Hero
2/2/2
Battle Strength 4: Target character gets -2
wits.
So we start off Armstrong week! Probably one of
the more charismatic characters in FMA. Many
people have compared him to Hughes… except he
has alchemy. I just think Hughes is far better,
but we still have yet to see some future leaders
for ALA.
Expert Soldier is probably the level you want to
be using if you’re playing ALA. 6 command is
invaluable and leaves a whole lot of options for
when you’re recruiting or picking your starting
allies. Being military, there is a TON of
support for military decks ranging from
Reinforcements, Hakuro and a lot of other
allies. Being able to recruit Maes Hughes,
Aggressive on the first turn… can definitely
help you win that first location.
A huge drawback are the stats. The stats are
definitely low… much lower than a lot of other 6
command level 1’s. This puts ALA at a big
disadvantage early in the game. Despite this…
you still want the 6 command rather than the 5
command.
Rating: 2.5/5
Better than the 5 command… but the stats are
REALLY low.

Armstrong, Expert Soldier
6 Command Military Faction
Human - Soldier - State Alchemist - Hero Level 1
2 Strength 2 Wits 2 Alchemy
"Battle Strength 4: Target character gets -2
Wits."
Stat Wise: Well, they're not as good as Expert
Alchemist, but this ALA gets
6 command to make up for it.
Effect Wise: Well, it's a useful effect if you
ever happen to be in a Wits battle with ALA....
The Downside: Ok, seriously. When will you ever
be putting ALA into a battle of Wits? Probably
never. So, this effect is more of a "just in
case" type of thing. Because Armstrong
definately is not a Wits character. Not only
that, but you also have to have 2 more Strength
than what you start out with in order to use the
effect (unless you really want to Equivalent
Exchange for it). I mean at least Roy Mustang,
Lt. Colonel had a somewhat useful effect
(because they've made Mustang leaders that might
actually be able to win a Strength battle)--and
his starting stats were closer to being able to
pay for the ability too. This effect is no where
near as useful as some of the other level 1
leader's effects.
Final Word: What can I say? It's your average
Level 1 leader with 6 command.
Not so great stats, not so great effect. But, he
does get that nifty 6 command.
I give Alex Louis Armstrong, Expert Soldier a 2
out of 5.
