Pojo's FMA Card of the Day

We finish up
State Alchemist week with a look at Roy Mustang,
The Flame Alchemist. This was one of the very
first Level 3 Roy leaders so does it stand up to
the test of time? The short answer is no. Not to
say that it is a bad leader by any means. His
stats of 6/8/7 is respectable for a level 3 even
being boosted up to a 7/9/7 with Hakuro out. His
ability will most likely ensure you will never
lose a strength battle, providing you are
willing to give up the cards for it. So why do I
not recommend using this leader?
Well nowadays it is much easier to gain access
to different level 3 leaders. Back in premier
unless you were incredibly lucky or had the
money to spend, you never would have been able
to play his other level 3 leader Master
Manipulator. Nowadays you can buy or win a
Transmutation binder and have one instantly. You
can also use Roy Mustang, Colonel from
Artificial Human, which boasts similar stats and
also helps you get to his Level 4 much quicker.
You can even use the new Brotherhood exclusive,
In his Footsteps for some crazy Hughes/Roy hero
combo deck.
So to sum it up, not a horrible Roy leader,
there are just much better options out there at
this time that aren't difficult to get.
Pros:
-Good stats to help fight on any attribute
location
-You won't be losing any strength battles with
enough cards in your hand
Cons:
-Outdated, much better Roy leaders out there
nowadays.
Sealed:3/5-All depends if you have a Roy level 1
and level 2 as well.
Constructed: 2/5-See Cons

Roy Mustang,
the Flame Alchemist.
This is an interesting level 3. The ability
discards to increase his strength. It's not such
a good deal, unless you think about Reflection.
Pop off 3 of them and you can have yourself 3
more strength.
The downside? Mustang only has 6 to start with.
But, with 8 wits he can do almost anything, and
his 7 alchemy will let us play Change in Plans.
Level 3, nine command, 6/8/7 with a boosting
ability?
Pretty good...
Until you realize that Mustang has Manipulator
for locations, or Colonel for EXP, or In His
Footsteps to boost every ally.
2/5 - Sealed - You need all the cards you can
get
3/5 - Constructed - You can combo it, but there
are better level 3 Mustangs.
