Pojo's FMA Card of the Day
Darktaro |
We continue
Sloth week with her level 2 leader, Sloth,
Obfuscator. Now for those like me who had to
look that up, it means to bewilder or otherwise
confuse which Sloth does through being on the
inside of the military as well as leading the
other homunculus.
This is her only level 2 at the moment and
despite the 7 command it has a really nasty
effect. By increasing the cost of events and
attributes by 2 it may cause problems for your
opponent who may base their deck around just
having enough stats to pay for their events and
abilities. Suddenly that Catch the Train now
becomes 11 wits to play. One of the more nasty
combos I’ve seen Sloth is in a Red Water Fever
deck. Slap a few of them on their allies and
make it so they have to EE to destroy the Red
Water Fever since now it costs 2 wits to destroy
it.
The 7 command is probably the biggest downside
to this, not letting you have access to some of
the bigger Homonculus allies, but if you really
need them you can always start with Slavering
Beast and pull out that Brigadier General. It
being the only level 2 at the moment means you
are going to play it if you play Sloth.
Pros:
-Disruptive ability can shut down your opponents
-Good stats
Cons:
-7 command
Sealed:3/5-If you can pull her Fluid level 1 I
say go for it, just remember her ability affects
what u play too.
Constructed:5/5-The only level 2 at the moment,
but it is a really good one.

Since I gave
Sloth's back-story in the last review, I'll get
straight to the point in this one.
Obfuscator is a new type of leader, while its
not the first resource denial leader, it is the
first to attempt to deny events and abilities.
Increasing the cost of events and abilities is a
new strategy and will take time to perfect with
future sets. There is an ally out already that
increases costs by 1 already so that is a good
starting ally option. +3 to a cost can make an
opponent unable to play most if not all of their
events and abilities. Most decks build around
using base stats, so an increase in their cost
can really throw things off.
In sealed, it could be tough to use Sloth, due
to the nature of the game in that situation
being highly battle heavy. In constructed, you
definitely have to build your deck around her,
but it can be frustrating for any opponent.
Sealed 2.5/5: Hard to take full advantage of.
Constructed 5/5: Make a deck, and watch your
opponent squirm.
