Pojo's FMA Card of the Day
Darktaro |
Today's card if
Aflame. Mass attachment destruction=good. The
fact that you get +1 strength for each destroyed
attachment is really more of an added bonus as
this card would be good even without it. Not
many downsides to this card, only a few cards
can stop it. 5 strength is fairly easy to come
by in any deck. Not much else to say this is a
great card.
Constructed:5/5-So few mass attachment removal
makes this card very handy.
Sealed:4/5-Attachments may see less play but
attachment removal is even rarer, great surprise
to use against your opponent. |

Aflame 5
Strength event
Battle Strength 5: Destroy all attachments on
target opposing character. This character gets
+1 strength for each attachment destroyed.
So welcome to Destruction Week!
Ionno, the name will catch though. -darty eyes-
Today we look at a nice little piece of
attachment hate, possibly my second favorite. So
the cool thing is all attachments go boom and
you get pumped! This is pretty impressive. The
downside is it targets a character as opposed to
their attachments, whats the bummer here you may
say? I'll list a couple Secret Agenda+Shadows,
Life on the Run + anything, Storm Drains +
anything and Wild Card + Elrics. Sue me, I'm not
listing Repair Job, outside of Basque I've never
heard its use. On that note you also face
Trusted Advisor in Basque, so another counter! I
still like this card, theres a counter for every
counter, some more viable then others so this
card isn't just dead. This puppy can also fit
into any deck as 5 Strength isn't all that much,
so why not splash if there are sick attachments
in your meta? The strength may do you no good at
all, but the attachment destruction is cool none
the less. I splashed this for my Elric as 2, and
it gets even better as its Flashbackable, which
is nice if it cancels or there are multiple high
attachment guys. Otherwise a Spear can suffice.
Overall: Great splashable card, no real reason
not to use.
Constructed: 4/5 Simply powerful, though prone
to all counters that it can eat
Sealed: 4.5/5 Less cancels=more points |

Hey everyone
and welcome to the Card of the Day for
Wednesday, 4/25. Let's take a look at today's
card, an uncommon from the Artificial Human
set... Aflame.
Battle Strength 5: Target an opposing character.
This character gets +1 strength for each
attachment on targeted character. Destroy all
attachments on the targeted character.
Ok. This card isn't too bad in constructed
battles. I mean if the battle is of alchemy or
wits, zap them with this card with card and they
get a useless battle attribute bonus to a stat
that doesn't matter. Not too much of a downfall
except that if your opponent whips out Test of
Strength or can change the battle to a battle of
strength... you're essentially screwed. On the
upside, this card can destroy an attachments
attached onto that character. Another downfall
is that this card can only target a character in
battle... had that not been the cause, this card
would be golden. (Then again it would've been
printed as a rare with a slightly higher cost.)
Nonetheless, isn't too great overall but still
gets it's kudos for getting rid of nasty
attachments like "Red Water Fever" or Antique
Armor or Sidearm and so forth. To the numbers...
Constructed: 3.75/5. Again, you're giving your
opponent a stat bonus which could easily come
back to haunt you. EASILY. Keep repair job on
you just in cause this card comes in to mess
with you. (Repair Job will negate the entire
effect of Aflame since it involves destroying
all attachments.)
Sealed: 2/5. I don't see too many attachments
being used in drafts or sealed decks to make
this card worth while.
Go out there and slap some pavement and draw
some circles.

Aflame:
There are a lot of options for attachment
removal in Fullmetal Alchemist. This is really
just because there are a ton of really, really
good attachments, and that attachmetns have a
more permanent impact on the game than battle
events. Regardless, Aflame is one of the oldest,
and still best answers to attachments.
Typically, people tend to put most attachments
on their leader. This is because of how easy it
is to have an ally be defeated, and be unable to
recover them, making you lose many more cards
than you would if your leader just defeated. If
all of a player's attachments in play are on
their leader (depending on the deck, this could
be as low as one or two all the way up to eight
or ten), the leader is going to be very
veulnerable to Aflame, having all of their
attachmetns quickly and effciently destroyed.
Compared with cards like Spear, this is much
more destruction, although it isn't as
removable. Still, Aflame is probably the best
point removal for attachments in the game. Oops!
and Prison Guards are only fully effective when
you don't actually run attachments, or just one
or two at best.
In limited, attachments and pumps are amazing.
Therefore, a pump that removes attachments is
even more amazing. If you have it, play it.

5 Cost
Battle
Strength event
In a world
where attachments can absolutely screw-up your
plans this card stands firm. Yeah, that sounded
like some dumb 70’s comic intro but it’s fairly
true. When you look at attachments and what they
can do to you any option you have to bounce them
or just destroy them is good. For a measly 5
strength you can destroy your opponent’s
attachment and get a stat boost to boot. For the
cost it has a great boost. Do you hate Spooky
Shadows? How about Antique Armor? It’s simple to
end them with this card, just pull it out when
your opponent is smirking with glee at the
apparent destruction of your characters. Even if
you loose the battle you still take out a
valuable attachment.
Final call
Constructed:
4/5
It’s a great
add-in for any deck that has a decent amount of
strength.
Limited:
3.75/5
It is an
uncommon so it’s going to be easy to pull one or
two of these in draft or sealed. Added to that
the ease of pulling attachments and this is a
stable card to use in Limited.
