Dante, Power
Revealed:
Dante is a very interesting leader. Although she
comes from a very powerful faction, her leaders
themselves typically have weaker effects. Power
Revealed is really the exception that proves
that rule.
Power Revealed has high attributes and a strong
ability with a very accurate cost. In fact, she
would be a perfectly amazing card if her ability
didn't cost Stone Points.
As is, she is very strong. But better abilities
come out of Stone points that Power Revealed's.
In contrast, look at Hohenheim "7"
command, how becomes a nine-command at the cost
of one Stone point. I really think that's more
than a few power levels above canceling a main,
react, or alchemy ability, although her picture
is much, much cooler, on both the chase and
normal. The thing Power Revealed does best is
hose Elric, and she does it very well, except
when she has to deal with PO'ed, where she
becomes useless. She is also strong against
military (most notably Master Manipulator) and a
few Homunculus decks, but beyond that she's a
bit unreliable. I think it has potential,
especially to be used in an experiance-burning
deck since both her level 3s are pretty bad, but
it'll take more time to see.
In limited, she's a bit weaker because of a
distinct lack of stones. I probably would avoid
playing this at all costs in limited unless I
already had several stones and a Gluttony
starter.

Today's card is
Dante, Power Revealed. At level 2 it's the
leader you'll probably spend the majority of the
game on and is it worth it over her over level
2, 400 Years Old? Statwise she's got 400 Years
Old beat at a 5/6/5, opening her up for alchemy
events such as Quick Draw and Stonewall that
normally you would never see in a Homonculus
deck. She boasts a higher quick then 4YO and an
ability that in my opinion is better as well as
there are many good react abilities to cancel.
(Custom Work anyone?) Of course the biggest
thing that is probably holding many people back
from this card is her 7 command.
At 7 command you're stuck with the downside of
having 6 and 7 cost allies as your main attack
force. Not to say Homonculus doesn't have a good
6-7 cost lineup. There's Caine, NWRT, Pride
Commander in Chief, Lust Torturer, Envy True
Face, Gluttony Big Fist, Sloth,
Misunderstanding, Kimbly Lunatic Prisoner, and
Lujon, Lust's Little Mistake. However all of
those give you an average wits of 5-6 whereas
going up against say a mirror match of Envy,
Vicious, you're going to be facing average wits
of 6-8.
Luckily, being Homonculus she has a natural way
to help her get extra command through Slavering
Beast. Start Slavering Beast to search out a
Brigadier General first turn. Start a Rose,
Blind Follower to check their hand to make sure
you don't get Pressured and you could even start
a Nina, Artificial Human to stop that Pressure
if they have it. If you do this, just make sure
you don't have soley 8 cost allies as a simple
Betrayal could end the game for you.
Constructed: 3/5-I still think Reclusive
Herbalist is the best Dante around. |

Dante, Power
Revealed Homonc
7 Command lvl 2
Human Villian
5/6/5
Quick Alchemy: 2
React 1 Stone: Cancel a react, main or alchemy
event.
This is a pretty interesting level two. Her
ability is nice being able to shut down some of
the biggest events in the game, Main, at the
single cost of a stone point. This is easily
achieved if you use Moment of Hysteria, you can
play a stone starting turn one. Her stats are
also fairly balanced for a level 2. Her downside
is the 7 command which holds her back from
getting some of the larger Homonc allies at
level 2, however shes a good intermediate if you
choose to use Nurtured on Souls to minimize the
time on level 2. In a Dante deck this would
probably be my level 2 of choice for her
disruption power.
Ratings:
Constructed: 4/5
Sealed: 2/5 -7 Command hurts here as you have
alot of out of faction drops depending on how
you choose to draft. |

Wednesday -
Dante, Power Revealed
Welcome to today's card of the day. Once again
as Sacrifice Leaders week continues... Now for
those of you reading this... you probably done
your homework on the FMA series storyline
(second half) and now realize who Hohenheim is,
how old he is, his ultimate fate, and how Dante
plays in all this. Wait, you didn't? Best start
googling and abusing that Wiki-pedia pages to
find out. Nonetheless, here's Hohenheim's
(former) partner in crime, Dante.
Quick Alchemy 2
React [1]: Cancel a main, react, or alchemy
ability.
Ok... Here's some real help for the ailing
Homunculus decks. And this one's a doozy! Give a
homunculus alchemy, what do you get? Wraith.
Give a Homunculus a serious amount of
intelligence and what do you get? Basically all
of them but Gluttony. Give a Homunculus wits, an
alchemy attributes, AND (when you have a stone
in play or a spare card to toss) the ability to
cancel any react, main, or alchemy ability and
what do you get? Serious problems to any
alchemy-based Elric deck, problems for users of
Antique Armor, and serious problems for Winry's
attachment abusing abilities. Long and short
run, if you're running Lust or Envy as your
Homunculus deck's leader... Bench them and run
the Dante series of cards. Be sure to throw
Stone points cards in there just to be sure. Add
in Frank Archer just for the heck of it as well
as King Bradley too. Now unlike Hohenheim, this
ability is worth throwing a card off your deck
for and the Quick Alchemy ability is an added
bonus.
Time for the stats:
Constructed: 3.75/5. Slightly better than
Hohenheim's reset ability and can cause a lot
pain and problems to all decks all around. Just
be sure to run multiple copies of stone cards to
play this easier.
Limited: 1.75/5. Still a bit too hard to play
this card in limited for throwing cards off.
Best option is to run her with caution and the
realization that you can only activate this ONCE
per turn. |

Here we have
the 7 command Dante: Power Revealed.
Essentially, what you want to decide here is
whether to run this or the
8 command as your level 2. The main differences
between the two are that the 7 command has one
higher stat in each category (including quick
alchemy) and a more versatile stone ability. As
far as the stats go, the difference is not
mind-boggling enough to affect the difference
between the two very much. Also, the stone
ability on Power Revealed is indeed pretty sweet
(canceling a wide variety of abilities can be
crucial), but it does of course require that you
have a stone out in play.
When looking at a level 2, just as with level
1's, command is probably the most crucial thing
to consider. Unless you're running an ally base
that doesn't feature a lot of 8 costs, you're
going to want to think carefully before using
this over 400 Years Old, her 8 command leader.
When you're running a Homunculus leader, I think
it's always best to use an 8-command. Just think
of all the allies you will miss out on, barring
some kind of command boosting card: Sloth - Miss
Director, Number 48 - Younger Brother, Lust -
Cloaked Stranger AND Lust - Artificial Human,
Lujon - Locally Famous, and of course
Sacrifice's favorite new ballistic weapon of
death, Wrath - Overkill. If your deck-type does
not need any of those guys then by all means,
run this Dante. If it were me, however, I'd go
with the slightly weaker 400 YO for the extra
command, since it opens up so many
possibilities.
Constructed 3/5: The 8 command will probably be
better for most decks.
You may be able to run brig. general to make up
for it, but there are no guarantees it will be
out by level 2 anyway, especially if you're
running policeman.
Sealed 2/5: Any level 2 is a welcome relief in a
sealed game, but the fact that this is a rare
will mean that it's actually less likely to come
up than 400YO anyway. Also, having less command
is even more of a detriment in a sealed game
where you may have quite a few allies out of
faction. If you have a choice, go for the other
one. |

Today it’s
Dante: Power Revealed.
At first
glance we have a 7 command level 2 leader with a
solid set of stats and Quick Alchemy 2. What
potentially brings this card to the front row is
its Stone ability to cancel any main, react or
alchemy ability that is played. Combine this
card with the level one Moment of Hysteria and
you’ve got the potential to ensure that what
stones you have can be played at level 1 and
then used at level 2. This particular leader has
some decent chances of being competitive in just
about any environment even with so few stones
available. Couple it with some solid Homunculus
allies and events and you’ll have a very solid
build in constructed play.
In Limited
play stones are still fairly hard to pull enough
of to make a solid deck with. However with
Moment of Hysteria being a common you’ve got a
solid chance of getting your level one for this
stack. If you are lucky enough to get the rare
for this stack then no matter what stone you
pull you’ll be able to use some decent abilities
with them.
So final call
Constructed:
4/5
With a good
set-up a Dante deck with this card could be hard
to stop.
Limited: 3/5
It’s still a
rare and any rare in Limited is tough to build a
deck around.
