Pojo's FMA Card of the Day
Darktaro |
Today we are
looking at Spoils of War. One of the very first
promos available which eventually got reprinted
in A Hero's Passing. Spoils of War is probably
one of the most splashable events in the game.
As any deck is going to battle somewhere in the
game, it is useful no matter what deck you play.
It has a simple effect of letting you get one
card back from your discard when you win a
battle. Great for getting back a pump, a battle
change, or a send home card.
Marcoh 7 really loves this card too as he can
draw into it with his ability and at the worst
ditch it for a quick. The only weaknesses to the
card is that since you must play it before the
battle has ended your opponent may choose to use
resources to win so the effect doesn't go off.
However, if your opponent is spending resources
to win a battle they normally would have lost,
then that is a victory among itself. Great card,
great splashability, fit it in if you have room.
Constructed: 4/5-Can fit into almost any deck.
Sealed:5/5-If you pull it out of A Hero's
Passing sealed tournament, consider yourself
very lucky. |

Welcome back to FMA Card's of the Day here at
Pojo. We're in the middle of Alchemy Events week
and now lets turn our attention to card two:
Battle Alchemy: If you win this battle, add
target card from your discard pile to your hand.
Nice free Alchemy event. Very useful, and I do
mean VERY useful, effect of adding ANY card back
into your hand from your discard pile. The game
has very few discard to hand, discard to field
effects and this is definitely one you should be
running in your deck for a plethora of reasons.
(Weak character support, useful event in discard
pile, leaders experience had worthwhile card,
need a reaction for safekeeping, etc.) Only
downfall is that you have to WIN this battle
that it's activated in. Meaning, if Antique
Armor kicks end (end this battle immediately
without resolution), good day to you. And of
course if your opponent is playing anti-Alchemy
events, then you're really screwed.
Let's go to the numbers:
Constructed: 4/5. I'd still run four of these
despite the chances of it blowing up in my face.
Get back a card to my hand from the discard
pile... That's all I need.
Limited: 4/5. You will rarely come across this
in a pack. If you don't pull it now, you're
looking at trading for it, time traveling back
to 2006 to win a tournament for one, or begging
your local State Alchemist/Tournament Organizer
to see if they can get one.... It's a pretty
good effect and you stand a 50/50 chance of
winning during sealed formats.... Pick this card
and play it with your deck.
Hope you all have a good week.
