You’d love to try and get this card into a Changeling deck, but none of their legendary creatures have “Choose a Background”. Until such a time comes, you’ll have to read the appropriate characters from Battle for Baldur’s Gate more carefully than usual. Note that you’re actually not as restricted by some of the unusual D&D races as you might guess, because they also have a class creature type. We already know that getting a few extra cards sometimes makes enough of a difference to turn the game around, and in this case, it lets you play those powerful white removal spells everyone loves (or should love).
Just be ready for someone to point out that Jaheira’s background was actually a minor noble family, and think that’s way funnier than it actually is.

A tribal cantrip is nice, especially coming from a color famous for its generally weak card draw. Folk Hero may only trigger once a turn, but it’s a bit of potent payoff if you’re stacking your deck with creatures of a certain type or persuasion. Much like the other Backgrounds we’ve reviewed so far, this is certainly useful in the 99, but I think it’s something you really would want to have ready access to, and so this shines brightest if you can parley it into an enduring source of resource replenishment. It also says you get one card per turn…but note that it’s each turn, so you can use flash to keep the cards coming.

An excellent background card that is perfect for tribal creature decks! It allows you to add white for some great removal spells and the other things white is known for, but more importantly it generates card draw for tribal decks. An elf green deck? A red goblin deck? This is a fantastic edition and I think one of the best cards in the entire set. The added speed that this gives you is HUGE and can put you ahead very quickly. The crazier thing is this is a low, low cost of two mana! Why would you want to play any other background when this is at your disposal is my question!
