– #ROTD-EN065

Send any number of other cards from your hand and/or field to the GY; choose that many Effect Monsters your opponent controls, and until the end of this turn, their ATK is halved, also their effects are negated. In response to this card’s activation, your opponent cannot activate cards, or the effects of cards, with the same original type (Monster/Spell/Trap) as the cards sent to the GY to activate this card. You can only activate 1 “Forbidden Droplet” per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Forbidden Droplets is the money card of Rise of The Duelist, and for good reason, it may be the best “Forbidden” Spell yet.

A Quick-Play Shrink combined with an opponent Skill Drain depending on how many cards you discard. The negation was already good enough in the form of a Quick-Play, but to give it Shrink power AND make it possible to target multiple monsters is going beyond. On top of it all, you can lock your opponent out of countering it by merely discarding with this card’s effect a card that could counter it. Discard a Monster, Spell, and Trap and you have full protection, though you’ll likely only have to discard a monster, a Trap alongside it at most. This card can fill your grave with grave-based cards for almost any strategy that involves the graveyard, and it is always live. You can use Forbidden Droplets to merely Shrink monsters and fill up your grave, it doesn’t have to be in response to an effect, you can use it as an offensive and defensive card in the Damage Step. Forbidden Droplets, depending on what you discard can become a Spell Speed 4. There are times you may run into negating a monster(s) and you don’t have a Trap to discard and get countered, but the decks playing this will also be able to plus off whatever they discard.

Unless your deck is built around banishing from turn one, ANY deck in the game can play this card, and playing it in multiples wouldn’t be a bad idea either. One-sided Skill Drain and Shrink in Quick-Play form, some serious power right there.

Next up is the latest addition to the Forbidden Quick-Play lineup and possibly the best one we got now: Forbidden Droplet.

Droplet is a Quick-Play Spell that lets you send any number of other cards from the hand and/or field to the graveyard to choose that many Effect Monsters the opponent controls and until the end of the turn their ATK stats are halved and their effects are negated. It’s kind of a 2 for 1 if you’re just negating one monster’s effect, but it also has the upside where the opponent can’t respond to this card with the same card type as cards you sent to activate this (Monster/Spell/Trap) meaning you can make sure this effect goes off without a hitch. It’s basically best as a Dark Ruler No More on the opponent’s turn so they can’t make their plays to begin with. You might not want to give away too many cards unless you use a Deck that likes graveyard setup, but just negating 1 monster while preventing the opponent from stopping this with an effect of a specific card type can be worthwhile, and the ATKs are halved in case OTKs are on the table as an option. You can only activate 1 Forbidden Droplet a turn, but you might likely just send another copy of Droplet off the effect of the Droplet you activate if you draw 2 and feel like you won’t need both, so that’s fine and it’s good they made sure to specify other cards so you can’t just send the Droplet you activate. Overall a pretty solid card on par with Dark Ruler No More.

Art: 5/5 The maiden we’re used to is long since corrupted and this does add to the Darklord lore alongside the Forbidden/Solemn lore, so that’s cool.

The Forbidden arsenal grows with the Quickplay Magic; this time in the form of a Droplet.  This card can be costly, but the more you’re willing to invest in it, the better the payout for you, and it can absolutely be a game winning card for a player.

Sending any number of cards from your Field and/or Hand lets you negate the effects of the same number of effect Monsters your opponent controls and valves their attack until the End Phase.

Now, granted, this won’t always cost you a great many cards, and even if it does, if you win, it doesn’t matter.  The versatility of this card is amazing.  Even more than the card being a Quickplay.

Your opponent can’t activate cards in response to your playing this card.  So if you dump a trio of Monster/Magic/Trap, it’s going through and you should steamroll through everything.

You do have to worry about their back row but so long as you’re prepared for that elsewhere and/or with your own Monster effects, it should be smooth sailing for you.  A powerful card with insane potential.

Rating:  4.75/5  Needs a little planning and depends on your own available resources.

Art:  5/5  Remember how innocent and sweet these use to be?  The corruption is complete.
