The Jumpstart sets often have unique designs in them, and sometimes powerful ones too. Frontline Heroism can be found in Jumpstart 2025 packs themed around Theros’ heroic mechanic, and gives you a way to avoid the sometime issue of putting all your eggs (combat tricks) in one basket (attacker). This is particularly important in bigger environments – the Theros block was purposely designed to make individual attackers viable threats that wouldn’t be removed left, right, and center. And speaking of which, it’s interesting to note that Frontline Heroism plays well with the go-wide theme that red and white use in many sets. I feel like that’s worth taking advantage of as well, though we shouldn’t forget the lesson of how Theros was designed to make heroic viable. We should all apply the lesson in casual play to make the environment we actually want, rather than the one some guy on the internet thinks we should (even if that guy is Mark Rosewater). And this card teaches us that too, because its non-obvious uses probably outnumber those from the way you’re “intended” to play it.

Frontline Heroism feels like a pretty interesting nod of sorts to the Theros block, and it’s an interesting way to magnify buff spells and provide more value. It also pairs well with cantrips, since it copies the spell and lets you draw off of those. It also provides a body to get the chaos going, and that’s pretty reasonable. This feels like it has a particular shell it wants to go in, but it goes in very well (and also stacks well in multiplicate). This is definitely a “build around” card, and if you do build around it, you’ll get a lot of mileage.
