Hello Pojo Fans,

Garura, Wings of Resonant Life has some hype behind it.

Two monsters with the same Type and Attribute, but different names are needed for this Fusion Summon, sadly, Garura is not a Ready Fusion target. With Albaz and Super Poly lurking around this format in full force, this is a monster you could see being in Extra and Side Decks within the meta.

Doubling the battle damage your opponent takes involving this card shouldn’t be much when Garura is packing 1500ATK, unless it hits directly, making it a 3000ATK beater each time, pretty good.

Sending Garura to the grave in any fashion nets you a +1, making it a great target for Extra Deck summons or fodder for effects. Not much else to say about that other than it’s great to get something back off a card of yours going to the grave.

Garura is a great card if you can Fusion Summon in your strategy. Many archetypes can with their own personal Fusion card, and with Albaz around, you may be able to use him against another Dragon-Type monster or just use old reliable: Super Polymerization. Garura will see play in the meta, even if it is just for the +1 draw.

Next up we look at the latest generic Fusion monster to serve as a Super Polymerization target, and it’s a TCG exclusive to add to it: Garura, Wings of Resonant Life.

Garura is a Level 6 DARK Winged Beast Fusion with 1500 ATK and 2400 DEF. The DEF is good at least, DARK is always a great Attribute, and Winged Beast has good support. The Fusion Materials are any 2 monsters with the same Type and Attribute, but different names, so literally screaming Super Polymerization against many strategies. First effect makes any battle damage the opponent takes from this become doubled, which is good since 1500 isn’t too much ATK to do any real damage with. Second effect triggers upon being sent to the graveyard by any means from anywhere, letting you draw a card. I mean, free draws for losing your card is fine. It works well with the card we’ll look at tomorrow, so there’s plus to this. It is a hard once per turn effect, so no drawing 3. Garura doesn’t do much on its own and mainly exists as a target for certain cards, mainly Super Polymerization. It’s been pretty commonly ran recently, so safe to say it’s a pretty good target for the card.

Art: 4.5/5 I wonder how well the two heads get along.

We shift to Fusion, a little earlier in the week than normal, with Garura, Wings of Resonant Life.  Level 6 here, Dark and Winged-Beast, with a substandard atk at 1500 but a reasonable def at 2400.  Fusion requirements are 2 differently named Monsters, but of the same Type and Attribute.  A vaguely open thing, that can honestly be accomplished in a variety of Decks, but works well with the Theme we opened the week with too.  So this guy deals double Damage to your opponent when inflicting it, which is cool, let’s not think it isn’t.  So, of course, he has to start with a weaker attack so you can’t easily/immediately take advantage of that.  HOWEVER, a direct attack without attack modification here is 3000 Damage.  So the more you’re willing to invest in this, this guy’s potential only climbs higher.  You also get to Draw 1 card when this card is sent to the Graveyard.  Note, for extra awesome here, it doesn’t say how, from where, or by who, so unless this card gets removed, you’re netting the Draw here.  That’s awesome in itself.  The Draw Effect is once per Turn, as it should be, can’t be Drawing too many cards at a time off one Effect, after all.  Fun card, and may see some niche use, but we’ll see.

One of the TCG exclusive cards introduced in Power of the Elements that caused a lot of buzz– Garura, Wings of Resonant Life is a level 6 DARK Winged Beast Fusion monster with a paltry 1500 attack and okay-ish 2400 defense. What’s most interesting, however, is its fusion materials, requiring two monsters with the same Type and Attribute but different names. Super Polymerization, anyone?

Fittingly, any battle damage inflicted by Garura is doubled, so it’s not a horrendous beater if you summon it (and given the way you’ll usually be summoning it, the odds of an empty field are rather high). Garura’s other effect is a hard once per turn, letting you draw one card if it’s sent to the Graveyard. If you’re not going for Shaddoll or N’tss plays, this makes Garura a good choice for Nadir Servant or Dogmatika Punishment to get some free advantage. All pretty neat effects, though Garura’s main attraction are its Fusion materials, which make Super Polymerization an attractive option considering it ruins the bread and butter Spright endboard of Toadally Awesome and Dupe Frog. Other decks get ruined by Garura as well, including Mathmech, Exosister, and Salamangreat– basically any deck with monsters of the same Type and Attribute. I’m not sure if Garura will get Super Polymerization limited, much less banned, but it’s definitely a card to look out for, at least for the time being.

Art: 3/5 Reminds me of random old-school cards once again, though with the modern polish. On another note, why Garura? Can’t they just call it Garuda? Or are there too many Garudas for Konami’s taste?
