Hello Pojo Fans,

Gimmick Puppet Gigantes Doll is the final card for our Gimmick Puppet week.

Rank 4 Xyz for a most Level 8 archetype, Puppets do have a few Level 4 monsters and needing two that are only Gimmick Puppet mean this card is strictly for the archetype.

2-for-2 effect that can rob your opponent of two monsters certainly is a way to deal with boss monsters. This effect wouldn’t be as good because of the restrictions it has to balance out the double Change of Heart, if not for the second effect. This Rank 4 can swipe two of your opponents monsters and then set up another Xyz Summon for you of a Gimmick Puppet. If you have a Link Monsters already on the field opening up more then one zone, you could potentially do a double Xyz Summon and have two Gimmick Puppet Xyz monsters to attack with. The Rank 8’s of Gimmick Puppet are pretty strong (minus Giant Grinder) and can do some massive damage if the effect of Gigantes Doll cleared the way. Your Level 4 Gimmick Puppets will gain their effects once detached and are live in the grave for the rest of the turn to help prevent your other Gimmick Puppets from being targeted or have their effects stop working. A Rank 4 that sets up at least one Rank 8 using opponents monsters no matter what type of monsters they are (Rank, Link). If you had a board already set up this could be used simply as a non-destruction way of clearing out your opponents monsters for some direct attacks. Going second and summoning this can lead to pushing for game first turn or putting unbelievable pressure on your opponent.

They needed Gigantes Doll when they were first released, but I’m glad they finally got it.

The week ends off with the first and only Gimmick Puppet Rank 4, and the only Gimmick Puppet Xyz that isn’t a Number monster, Gimmick Puppet Gigantes Doll.

Gigantes Doll is a Rank 4 DARK Machine with 0 ATK and 2000 DEF. Good DEF, poor ATK, a good type/attribute combo. The summoning requirements are any 2 Level 4 Gimmick Puppets, which is easy considering Gimmick Puppets have a good amount of Level 4s as well, so them getting a Rank 4 was kinda overdue. You can detach 2 materials from this card to target up to two monsters the opponent controls and take control of them for the turn, also for the rest of the turn you cannot Special Summon monsters that aren’t Gimmick Puppets nor declare an attack with non Xyz monsters. Stealing monsters to potentially make Xyz plays is nice, even though the archetype is limited to this, Rank 8s, and a Link-2 that needs Machines. The attack prevention makes sure you can’t pull off a super easy OTK with any non Xyz monsters you stole, so it makes you use the card for its purpose. You can tribute this card to make every monster you control become Level 8 for the turn, which is good in an archetype that wants to spam their Rank 8s, and it can get this out of the Extra Monster Zone if it was there to begin with. Thankfully the Gimmick Puppet Rank 8s are all generic. I doubt you can use this to turn Xyz monsters and Links into Level 8s since they naturally don’t have Levels, so I guess you’ll steal opponent’s monsters with Levels, which is fine. Gigantes Doll is a Rank 4 that Gimmick Puppets will love to have to make Rank 8s easier to summon as well as helping you get rid of opponent’s threats to turn into your Rank 8s along the way.

Art: 5/5 I feel if I rated it lower, it would be in my nightmares tonight.

Closing the week is Gimmick Puppet Gigantes Doll, still a Machine and Dark, a Rank 4 who DOES need to theme specific Level 4 Monsters for an XYZ Summon, with 0 attack and 2000 defense.  Detaching both XYZ Material nets you control of two of your opponents Monsters until the End Phase.  Can’t Special Summon outside the theme, nor declare an attack with a non-XYZ Monster.

So they’re forcing you into a lot there.  But since you’re stealing two Monsters, being able to bring out at least one XYZ should be simple enough.  If you Extra Deck into something else, it’s gonna sit there and not attack that turn.  Tributing this card turns all Monsters you control into Level 8.  To bring out yesterday’s card…or Leo, or beyond, so there’s plays in that for sure.

Ideally do that AFTER using the first effect to snatch two Monsters from your opponent.  Each effect is once per turn, and here that’s absolutely necessary to prevent insane abuse.  I like this, but I don’t think it’s as good as it may initially look on the surface.  These effects can be troublesome, but like yesterday, I’m not sure how often they’re going to be able to be relied on.

Rating:  3.5/5

Art:  4.5/5  Definitely sadistic looking.  Good Machine feel here, still no strings on this puppet.  The head/face in the middle is genuinely creepy, as are all the blades on the armored body.
