If this card is in your hand: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from a monster on either field, and if you do, Special Summon this card. If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 “Goblin Biker” Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand. You can only use each effect of “Goblin Biker Dugg Charger” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Goblin Slayers favorite week here on Pojo where we’re reviewing the Goblin Biker archetype. Why their favorite? Lure targets out in the open.
Goblin Biker Dugg Charger starts our look into the archetype. An extender of sorts, though requiring an Xyz Material to be detached isn’t as good of an extender effect to Special Summon itself as ones we’ve seen, but that is the theme of the archetype:detaching Xyz Materials. Detaching an Xyz Material from an opponent’s Xyz Monster is handy, especially if they are of the negation type and that would leave them vulnerable. When Normal or Special Summoned, Dugg Charger is your Goblin archetype Spell/Trap searcher. Currently there are three targets for Dugg Charger to search, with Goblin Biker Grand Bash being the best one because of its ability to change the Levels of your Goblin monsters, as well as offering an extra Normal Summon each turn.
Not the strongest monster, even for a Level 3, but their swarm ability helps to alleviate that. The archetype contains several Types but there are a few Warrior monsters so running RoTA isn’t out of the question, especially if you included Goblindbergh in the Deck for added swarm ability. With a few monsters carrying that extender ability to detach an Xyz, the optimal scenario is to detach an opponent’s Xyz Material to Special Summon your goblins. While that may not always be the case, it will happen and you will benefit even if the summon gets negated. Their archetype Xyz monster also works around getting its material(s) detached to supply the Special Summon ability of some of the Main Deck goblins.

We finish off Phantom Nightmare coverage with a look into the newest archetype related to Diabellstar, the Goblin Bikers, and the week starts with probably their main monster: Goblin Biker Dugg Charger.
Dugg Charger is a Level 3 EARTH Warrior with 1600 ATK and 0 DEF. A fine ATK stat on a Level 3, EARTH is good, and Warrior is great. The first effect can trigger while it’s in your hand, letting you detach a material from any Xyz Monster on the field to summon this card. Easy to get out by detaching extra materials from your own monsters or monsters the opponent controls. There’s a few Xyz Monsters you might play that don’t detach materials on their own, so Dugg Charger can detach them for you if necessary. Upon Normal or Special Summon, you can search for any Goblin Biker Spell/Trap directly from the Deck. A good searcher for a few options like Grand Entrance for your main searcher for the monsters in the archetype, Grand Bash for an extra Normal Summon and Level adjustment, or Grand Stampede for Xyz Summoning on the opponent’s turn and effect negation. Dugg Charger is easy to get onto the field, since Goblin Bikers should be turboing out Rank 3 monsters with ease, and it’s a searcher for your backrow that help keep your plays going. It’s the Goblin Biker you’ll play the most of, likely a 3-of for Goblin Bikers.

A new player enters the Diabellstar lore with the Goblin Biker (don’t hate me if I accidentally slip into the fanlation, Goblin Rider) faction, which continues our Phantom Nightmare coverage this week. Goblin Biker Dugg Charger leads the way, a level 3 EARTH Warrior monster. Like all Goblin Bikers, it’s level 3 to enable Rank 3 Xyz plays, and being a Warrior makes it searchable with Reinforcement of the Army alongside Goblin Biker Grand Entrance and their sub-boss, Goblin Biker Big Gabonga. Dugg has a respectable 1600 attack for a level 3 monster, though it also shares the archetype-wide 0 defense! I’m not sure why they all have 0 defense, but fortunately it shouldn’t come up too often outside of very bad situations.
Dugg has two hard once per turn effects– the first effect lets you Special Summon it from your hand by detaching an Xyz material from any Xyz monster on the field. This effect is a double-edged sword; it’s obviously useful as an extender in Xyz decks, and because detaching Xyz materials bypasses unaffected protection, you can even use it as a tech against monsters like Expurrely Noir and Super Quantal Mech King Great Magnus (though tomorrow’s card will fulfill that role much more efficiently). My love-hate relationship with this type of effect comes with the fact you need an Xyz monster to use it in the first place, which is something that Goblin Biker struggles to accomplish without outside cards. Fortunately, Dugg sort of makes up for it with its other effect, a simple search for any Goblin Spell or Trap if it’s Normal or Special Summoned. Goblin Biker Grand Bash is a good way to extend, considering Goblin Biker lacks a one-card combo on its own, and it can enable Rank 6 plays if you choose to play them. Otherwise, you can also search Goblin Biker Grand Entrance (for follow-up if you haven’t used it yet) or Goblin Biker Grand Stampede if you need a disruption, though Goblin Biker Pile-Up is also a valid choice. Upstart Goblin is a meme pick. Dugg is an excellent monster for what it is, but I really wish they’d stop making these Xyz deck extenders that need an Xyz monster live first! Goblin Biker decks play 3, of course, since Normal Summoning it still grants value.
+Extends and searches Goblin backrow
+Can troll certain Xyz boss monsters
-Not a combo starter
-Relying on an existing Xyz to Special Summon itself stinks

Art: 3.75/5 When pigs attack! A friend of mine was mortified by the decision to change “Goblin Rider” to “Goblin Biker”, but I think it fits their overall biker gang vibe.
