Hello Pojo Fans,

We’re back with the goblins with Goblin Biker Grand Breakout.

Quick-Play that tributes a monster to Special Summon a Goblin from your Deck. Goblin Bikers are all about Special Summoning and while you lose the ability to attack with that Goblin the turn you activate Breakout, you are likely using it for a Link or Xyz Summon. This can get you to Clatter Spolder who can Special Summon any Goblin from your Graveyard. Trading a Goblin to get Spolder to get that same Goblin back also makes it so you don’t lose advantage. Tributing Boom Mach isn’t a loss as long as you have an Xyz Monster that you can detach a material from to Special Summon it back. In fewer words, Goblin Biker Grand Breakout is Goblin Biker Grand Entrance, but with a cost.

Banish in the Graveyard and also detach materials for an ATK drop for the turn is a setup as long as you are ranking up to a higher, better Xyz Monster. It has to be a Goblin Xyz for Grand Breakout to detach materials, and at 1000ATK for each material, you shouldn’t have to detach many, two should be enough but sometimes you may need to detach three. Big Gabonga is only 2100ATK, so you are going to need something stronger to maximize your damage for the turn. If you can make Utopic Draco Future in your build you can have 3000ATK against the potential 0ATK of your opponent, dealing a good portion of damage. Your Goblins should be able to run over anything with this ability, the key is to get the most damage as possible.

Another way to Special Summon out a Goblin Biker monster, as if they needed it. It is another search card that can pay for itself when used with Clatter Spolder, and, can be defensive from the grave because it can be banished on either turn whenever a monster attacks. How much you can drop your opponent’s monster’s ATK is up to your Goblin Xyz on the field.

The remaining two cards for the lore this week will go towards Goblin Bikers, as they got some of the best support they could ask for, starting with Goblin Biker Grand Breakout.

Grand Breakout is a Quick-Play Spell that lets you tribute a monster to summon any Goblin from the Deck, but it cannot attack that turn. You sacrifice an attack likely to force you to use this to make Xyz plays and not try to cheese an OTK, but this is pretty good since you can tribute the monster you summon and trigger the effect of to dodge something like Imperm while getting you to another Goblin from the Deck that can help your plays. Funny enough, Memento can run this as well to dodge Imperm while summoning Mementotlan Goblin from the Deck, since it only needs to summon a Goblin and not a Goblin Biker. You can also banish this card from the graveyard and detach any number of materials from Xyz Monsters you control to debuff the opponent’s monsters by 1000 ATK for each material detatched, which can help you push for game while also being allowed to use the effect of Big Gabonga. HOPT on each effect is fine. Grand Breakout is a useful card for being able to swap your monsters for a Goblin in the Deck you might need, especially since Goblin Bikers have a Level 6 now that helps with plays. You can also use this in random archetypes that have a Goblin monster to help your monsters dodge Imperm, which is what you see in Memento. Play a few copies in Goblin Biker and Memento and whatever else you can fit it into.

Goblin Biker also got a big boost this box, with today’s card being Goblin Biker Grand Breakout, a Quick-Play Spell you can search with Goblin Biker Dugg Charger (and, by proxy, anything that searches Dugg). As usual, Grand Breakout comes with two hard once per turn effects. On activation, Grand Breakout will tribute any monster to Special Summon a Goblin Biker from your deck, at the cost of preventing it from attacking that turn. Needless to say, the attack prevention isn’t all that relevant considering you’ll likely be using it as a combo piece anyway. Grand Breakout combos amazingly with Goblin Biker Clatter Sploder, since you can revive a Goblin that you tributed for Grand Breakout. It also is a convenient way to get rid of their new level 6 monster (hint hint) since it otherwise isn’t too useful for Rank 3 plays. If you didn’t use Dugg to search this yet, getting out Dugg is also an option to access the other backrow, but Dugg is hard once per turn so getting out two Duggs is redundant. Most importantly, since it is a Quick-Play Spell, you can use it to dodge Infinite Impermanence and Effect Veiler on your key combo pieces, which will be more important as we head into a format with aggressive Hand Trap usage. Grand Breakout’s other effect can be triggered if a monster attacks while it’s in your Graveyard, letting you banish it and detach any number of Xyz materials from your Goblin Xyz monsters to drop the attack of all of your opponent’s monsters by 1000 until the end of the turn. If you remember my original critique of Goblin Biker, I complained that they’re not too great at offensive pressure, so this does help a little bit, and it even can be useful for boardbreaking since it’ll trigger Goblin Biker Big Gabonga’s Xyz absorption effect. Reading-averse players might also get caught off-guard by it. Of course, the main reason to run Grand Breakout is its first effect! I’m seeing lists play 2 copies, likely to save deck space since it’s still a dead card if you don’t have a monster, but more pure builds can get away with 3 copies as an extender.

+Great combo piece that can extend or start combos with almost any monster
+Helps dodge targeting negation Hand Traps
-Requires a monster to use on its own
-Battle effect isn’t particularly relevant
