The European Magic seller Cardmarket recently published an Instagram post with a list of top-selling cards from Foundations, and Hare Apparent was on that list. I am not really surprised. Not only is it incredibly cute, but it is a shockingly explosive variant of the Plague Rats archetype. The worst case is an appropriately-costed vanilla creature, and the best case is absolutely uncontrollable swarms. I’d be tempted to add something like Impact Tremors (also conveniently in Foundations), but be careful you still have enough space for as many Hare Apparents as you can fit! Cardmarket’s YouTube channel put out a “party box” video about a shared deck format, which in their case included some custom cards. The most notable was the unforgettable Gisela Boorish – this card, in their words, changes the game from players vs players, to players vs Gisela Boorish. If you watch it, you’ll see what that means, and Hare Apparent does much the same thing when your deck is built right. I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if it even manages to find a way to crack tournaments!

Hare Apparent is no ordinary rabbit, it turns out. The latest in the line of Relentless Rats-style cards, this bad bunny shines in multiplicate in a very white way, letting you make a large amount of rabbits in short order with a couple copies to go around. It even plays well on its own; a 2/2 and a 1/1 is actually a solid deal for two mana, and this even shines alongside white’s token-based support.
I will say that Hare Apparent has one upside over the other mass creatures in that it’s actually a decent creature on its own; one lowly Rat Colony won’t inspire much immediate fear, and while Hare Apparent won’t either, it is 3/3 worth of stats for 2 mana, and white’s ability to go wide means that, with multiples running around, this becomes a massive problem in a short window.
