Dean Thomas, before DA, was a pretty good back-up character. Being able
to draw 3 cards and use up no actions once a game! But now, with Books
cards being released, Dean is useless. Book Cards may take an action to use,
but they also supply a lesson. And there's one for every card type! In a
Ron Weasley deck, Dean is good. But, he should be replaced by Books in any
other deck. Dean was supposed to be in one of the original Pre-Constructed
decks for some reason, but since they were never released, he never got that
much attention and use.

With Books and all the new spells that let you draw, Dean has been put to
pasture. He isn't even a good starter. He may have been a little helpful in
the base set (maybe,) but now he is a collector's item. Sorry Dean, you are
a great character in the book, but not in this game.

Dean Thomas? This card is virtually useless to many decks except
an item or fast acting creature deck. Basicly what this card does is give
you a chance to draw an item or draw some lessons if you need them. Thomas
could be a good second character card for an item deck, but i find him still
useless.

Dean was accually a pretty decent ally in the Base Set. Most people didn't play him
so using him as back-up was a safe choice. Then in QC, there was more characters,
so Dean took a backseat to them. And now that DA is out, the Books can do basically
the same thing Dean could do, without having to worry about Uniqueness.

Let's think about this practically.... I doubt you would want to start
out with Dean Thomas as his ability is limited, although the card advantage
might be nice.... Otherwise, unless you are playing Ron Weasley or The
Leaky Cauldron, you play a card for two actions to draw three cards instead
of using two actions to draw two cards. Not to mention the fact that
having Dean in your deck theoretically uses up an action/slot to draw him.
All in all, I wouldn't really suggest playing him unless you can play him for
one action. I've put him in a few Ron Weasley decks and he does come in
handy at times, yet all in all, i'd say his use is limited.
