Any starting character that provides
you with an initial lesson is automatically good. The extra broom-fetch
ability of Hooch isn't so hot, however. That's because the fetch
of an item is equivalent to just one action, and if you accidentally
draw a broom before you do the fetch, then you've more or less wasted
her special ability. So unless you fear an opposing discard, you
should do the fetch on your very first turn. Any deck that includes
Hooch should figure out which single broom type works best for their
deck (usually Nimbus 2000 or Comet 260) and put one copy of that
broom in the deck. Do *not* use Hooch as an allied character. She's
no good for that. But she can do a fine job as your
starter.

Hooch is an amazing starter. If you
have Quidditch in your deck, she should be your starter. Since no
Quidditch cards need Quidditch lessons to discard, you could add
Charms with this, use Wand Shop, then have Mid-Air Collision and
Out of Control take over. Hooch provides one Quidditch, so that
makes her an ideal starter. Her ability is also very nice. Once
per game, take a Quidditch Item from your deck to your hand. Many
people have used this with Broomsticks, but Bludger would be another
choice if you have your Broom in your hand already.

Madam Hooch really rocks my world
When she starts me off with Quidditch
Regardless of the other lessons I play
My spells will have found their niche
Hoochy says I must learn to fly
And get my feet off the sand
She gets me my broom on the first play
And puts that stick in my hand
Lots of bonuses can come from the game
When you play to win a Match
Rolanda will be there to back you up
When you make your first catch
Remember to keep this in mind
If you want to play Catch the Snitch
She is best as your starting character
When playing within the pitch
The spells that will be played
My opponents will really despise
With one last thing to mention
"Man, do I dig her eyes!"

Before we start with today's card
i would just like to tell all my women admirers out to remember:
yellow eyes aren't in style with me. Just so you know. Keep those
pictures and letters coming ladies, and of course you'll be getting
your signed photos of your lovable award winning smile writer within
7-10 business days. Now onto Madam Rolanda Hooch, as a lady she
isn't very pretty at all, but then again when you're as good looking
as me, you have very high standards. She is however an excellent
starting character for HPTCG. Now there are two ways to look at
starters, one is in the online world and another is the real world.
On apprentice, mcgonagall is becoming well boring, no one plays
w/ adventures any more so her special ability often gets wasted.
Its much more advantageous to use Hooch since you can get a broom
and use a lesson type with no discards. However in the real card
playing world, Minerva is still Queen, but Hooch can still have
its advantages if you use them well. She is definitely one of the
top 5 starters in the game and depending how you build your deck
around her, a solid choice as a starter.

If you're plannin on playin the only
game on broomsticks, who better to have at your side Madam Hooch?
If your deck depends on brooms, and you need to make some room,
ditch Transfiguration class and accio your firebolt to steal the
egg from that dragon. She's definitely a solid starting character
with
a pretty nice ability. It's a bummer if your broom gets picked on,
so put in at least two of whatever your preferred broom for the
deck is. As always, the starting lesson is a plus, and who can argue
with that yellow eyed stare?

Hooch, one of the top 5 starters in
my list. Quidditch is one of the 3 lesson types that doesn't require
discarding and that makes her one of the best starters. While other
teachers have requirements or need particular situations to use
their ability; Hooch doesn't. At the end of the first turn she screams
UP! and gets a broom into her hand, and on the next or 3rd turn
she climbs on it and gets in the air. If you need a particular broom
and have Hooch, one copy of it in your deck is enough to get it
out... major card saving during deck building. It gets you an extra
lesson directly in your hand (you can fairly deminish the lessons
% in your deck) and the ability of each broom gotten out so quick
can be life saving during any situation.
Just don't forget to use her during first turn so you don't lose
an action by drawing a broom you could've gotten for free!
