This spell is a weaker and cheaper
version of Potions Class Disaster. I would expect it to see some
play in decks built around Potion Exam's "big brother",
PCD. I can also see it working in a dedicated lesson destruction
deck (Lost Notes, Picking on Neville, Diffindo). In the latter case,
such a deck design would greatly reduce the chance of your opponent
avoiding the 3 card loss by having a potion lesson in play. This
is not a card you want to toss willy-nilly into just any deck. That's
because it is very slow to play and a three card loss isn't enough
by itself to slow down a faster deck in the late stages of a game.
Only in concert with the right supporting cast can this card start
to shine. Don't underestimate the time it takes to be able to cast
this card!

This card is amazing...unless your
opponent is using Potions lessons. Since they have to take 3 cards
from play (unless they're using Potions lessons), its better then
the other Potion denial, Potions Class Disaster. This card is in
most PCD/Obliviate decks, since of its capabilities, and it should
be! 10P for it, but it is really worth it!

The Green Meany! It only has the one
flaw. If your opponent has Potions out they can avoid it. 10 power
for this card is nothing. I would gladly pay that price. The nice
thing is you will usually know early on if you need to get to 10
or not by what they play and discard early in the game. If they
have Potions, then use the other parts of your deck and don't worry
about it. But when they do not have Potions out, this card is awesome.
2 of these together can wipe and opponent out of the game or at
least put them out of commission for a few turns. This is a card
that if you play big power, you really want to find room for it.

Today is the finally day of this Cleaning/Sweeps
week stuff and not a day too soon. My maid is getting tired. Which
brings us to todays card, Potions Exam. My good friend, Severus,
is at it again, making life hard and harder for those wacky kids.
His latest Card costs 10P but it removes 3 cards from play. Now
this card is very handy in the Potion Class Disaster and Obliviate
Combo Deck, but there is a catch. If your opponent is playing with
potions lessons, they can dump one of those to prevent discarding
the two other cards. So while this card can be powerful it won't
always have the effect that you want. I really think in the PCD
and Obliviate deck this card just aids and makes it that much more
powerful but alone it could have a weekness, but if there's one
thing we've learned from Severus is, to include his cards in your
deck or he'll turn you into a toad or something. Speaking of which
I think I left the curling wand on....

Potions Exam is a GREAT card! Even
if your opponent IS playing potions, that is the one lesson that
tends to eat itself. So even if this only kills a potions, it is
still good for the deck and bad for the opponent. using this in
conjunction with other denial cards such as picking, lost notes,
diffindo, potions class dissaster, ec... is brutal! but even if
this is all the denial you have, it's still a hit to the kidneys
for your opponent.

A card that forces an opponent to
discard 3 cards? from play? Fantastic! If your deck is based on
controlling cards on the table (which is usually the case if you
use this card), this card is perfect. Its cost isn't big for it's
effect, it doesn't require a discard but it's back door ability
can be disturbing. When you land on a potion lessons user, it is
always hard to get the card's full effect. Combined with transfiguration
to remove those green lessons, it is just a great card.
