Behind Norbert, this is my favorite target for a Stream of Flames. This is
to say that this card carries considerable risk. It also slows your own
development, unless you're starting Hermione and have a Hagrid's House
out. So it's no good, right? Well, if your opponent doesn't have an answer
for it, this big guy can deliver quite a beating. I think he fits best in a deck
that contains many cheapie critters, occupying the upper end finisher card
slot. Your opponent will feel the pressure from your weenies and be
forced to burn them, leaving no creature removal remaining for when this
Troll decides to enter the scene. At least, that's the theory. I'd like to play
this, but he tends to miss the final cut in my deck designs, as there are
many other decent creatures at about this same casting cost. Maybe if I
made a troll deck....

4 damage a turn for 5CoMC is nice, but the 1 discard and 3 health isn't. One
of the 3 Charms creature killers takes this card out, and that leaves you
down one CoMC early, which isn't good. Also, Marble Gargoyle, when it's
effect is used, hits harder then this card, so it is very rarely used. It's
an iffy card, but it still has its place in some decks...

I don’t really like this card to much. He can be picked off by the
wide array of charms spells for 5 power (Stream of Flames, Bewitched
Snowballs) and he requires that you discard a COMC lesson to play. For all
that he does do four damage a turn which is a considerable pound every
turn and he can be laid on turn two which can make him hard to
eliminate. All and all I play him sometimes but not often there are just a lot
of better creatures out there.

There are few creatures in the Harry Potter world that are worth sacking
lessons for. Most of them are Dragons or Big Three Headed Dogs, but River
Troll is one that isn't too bad either. His 4 damage is a powerful bite,
but the stream of flames and bewitched snowballs eat him up. Yes he's good
in speed decks and packs a good punch but there are other options out there
to play too. I wouldn't advise having four of him in your deck, but one or
two of them most definitely can not hurt.

This guy is definatly for decks using CoMC lessons. Pure CoMC decks will probably have him
in there, because he's as strong as Chimaera or Mountain Troll and can come out sooner. If
you're running creatures without CoMC lessons, which is quite possible with Sprout from CS,
then obviously this guy isn't very useful for you.

This is definitely one of the best creatures that makes you lose a COMC.
It's 3 Damage so it is still vulnerable to the usual charms denial, but it
is relatively cheap and does 4 damage a turn. This not only fits in well
with weenie decks, but also with heavy critter decks. All around this guy
is a fairly heavy hitter that comes out pretty early. That's about all
there is to say about this lil bugger. Use him as you will.

Personally... I like this card... costs 5 to get out and you have
to discard one... but you still have 4... which is just enough for
a steel claw. :) I rate this one a sweet 3.5-4.0 depending on
your back up cards.
