Minerva McGonagall is currently Deputy Headmaster of Hogwarts, and also teaches Transfiguration. Were
Dumbledore to resign his position as Headmaster, she would get the job, as shown by Dumbledore's temporary absence in Book II.

Clever and witty, she isn't one to take any sort of
nonsense from her students. She has the necessary gift of a true teacher to keep a class silent without
effort, and also knows what she's doing.

Head of Gryffindor House, she always expects top
behavior out of the students placed under her charge. Proven quite verily in Book I, when she took one hundred and fifty points away from her own house when she caught Harry and two other students out of bed, on the night when they delivered Norbert the Norwegian Ridgeback to Charlie Weasley's friends.

Quite able to defend herself, she has shown an
amazing ability to stay focused on the issue at hand,
as shown at the interrogation of Barty Crouch in Book IV.

dangerous arts you will learn at Hogwarts. Anyone
messing around in my class will leave and not come
back. You have been warned."
