Hello Pojo Fans,

Heavenly Zephyr – Miradora starts off the first full week of March here on Pojo CoTD.

Prevention against its effect being negated is something you want to see on any card. Easy to Special Summon monster, your opponent nine 9 times out of 10 are going to summon something from the Extra Deck that has 2000 or more ATK, Miradora will be able to be Special Summoned by its own effect. Lock-down effect negation on an Extra Deck monster for both players can be something to work against if you are playing a mirror match, but most of the time it will be one-sided and beneficial for you. Stopping your opponent from activating a monster effect, especially when they’ve committed to the Extra Deck can be the difference between a win and a loss. With Miradora having 2600DEF you can Special Summon it in defense and anything under that will have a tough time outing it in battle. Once Miradora is gone though that monster it was holding down will be free to activate effect(s) again. This is a great control card to drop on your opponents first turn. VFD turn one for your opponent being negated is a plus in your direction. Preventing an Omega from removing a card from your hand, stopping a N’tss, or preventing Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder from ruining everything for you, Miradora can do that for you and give you a big body on board. Yes, it won’t negate smaller Extra Deck monsters like the Knightmare monsters or Needlefiber unless your opponent has any of those smaller monsters on the field, hasn’t activated their effect(s), and then summons a bigger Extra Deck monster to trigger Miradora…highly unlikely.

Miradora is another big Dragon-Type hand trap of a card that can be very helpful the earlier you draw it.

Time to begin some BLVO reviews and start things with some of the better cards of the set. The week begins with the new hand-trap from the set: Heavenly Zephyr – Miradora.

Miradora is a Level 7 WIND Dragon with 2000 ATK and 2600 DEF. Fineish stats for a Level 7, being a Dragon is great, and WIND is fine on a Dragon at least I guess. The activation and effect of this card’s effects can’t be negated to start, so good way to get into things knowing your effects are going to go off. If the opponent Special Summons a monster with 2000 or more ATK from the Extra Deck, except during Damage Step, you can Special Summon this card from the hand. A free Level 7 body is nice for something that’s most likely going to happen. The ATK restriction on what comes out does sting, but you’ll typically see a 2000+ monster come out. If you Special Summon this from the hand, you can target a face-up monster the opponent controls that’s Special Summoned from the Extra Deck and its effects cannot be activated while this card is face-up on the field. Good way to shut off some powerful Extra Deck monsters like Borreload Savage Dragon or Apollousa. It can help make sure your plays go through when your turn comes around. The targeted monster can still attack, so you’re likely going to see this ran over if the opponent does it on a turn they can attack and then you’re back to square one, but you can at least do this turn 1 and have a body ready on your turn and the opening to make plays. Each effect of Miradora is a hard once per turn, which is fair for most hand-traps to have. Miradora is a decent card overall with potential, having that first line in the effect helps a lot. Without it, the card would feel nearly useless since it’ll likely never resolve. In its current form, it’s good.

Heavenly Zephyr-Miradora kicks things off this week.  Wind is better than it use to be, Dragon has insane support, and 2000 attack is low on a Level 7 but the 2600 defense helps.  This cards Special Summon effect can’t be negated, nor can the activation, which is a definite plus.  All your opponent has to do is drop an Extra Deck Monster with 2000 or more attack to their Field; save the Damage Step, of course.  If this card is Special Summoned, you get to dual negate the effects of a card on the Field from both players.  I like this and while I still see the attack as a limitation, she doesn’t hurt to stay defense position.
