Pojo's HeroClix "Click of the Day"
WMNOE |
Hulk -
I can still remember the opening narration. "Dr. David Banner... physician,
scientist, searching for a way to tap in to the hidden strengths that all humans
have. Then, an accidental overdose of gamma radiation, alters his body
chemistry. And now, when David Banner grows angry or outraged a startling
metamorphosis occurs. The creature is driven by rage and pursued by
an investigative reporter. The creature is wanted for a murder he didn't commit.
David Banner is believed to be dead and must let the world think that he is
dead,
until he can find a way to control the raging spirit that dwells within him. (ROAARRR)"
Ahh yes, the 70's what a great decade. And now, Hulk is back this year, but on
the big screen, and instead of Lou Ferrigno, we get CGI, the only way to go for
the big behemoth.
This is the second sculpt for the jolly green giant (third if you count Mr.
Fixit from Clobberin' Time), and it represents the "Savage Hulk." It's a MUCH
better sculpt than the initial REV version from Infinity Challenge, and it's a
better clix as well, but at a hefty 201 point value, you better think long and
hard about using him in a team situation. Sure, you can build a nasty 400-500
point team around him, but if you're playing a 300 point game, give him a break,
you'll just have Hulk and a bunch of scrubs.
However, looking at his stats, you just can't go wrong. 10 clicks of health keep
old green skin in the game until the end. His attack starts at 9 and
INCREASES until click six and all clicks have super-strength. Defense starts at
15 and again INCREASE as he loses health with either toughness or
invulnerability the whole way. So you won't be able to hit him, and even if you
do, you can't do any damage to him. Speed is average at a starting value of 6
and again increasing to click 5. In other words, as Hulk gets hit, he gets
meaner, stronger, faster and more deadly. So far, this is the best of the Hulks,
but at the high point value, you either build a team around him, or forget him.
The only higher point value so far is the 300 point Sentinel...and that's saying
something.
Since X-Plosion was released only a couple of weeks ago, time will tell how
valuable a Unique Hulk will be. It's not like casual collectors can't get a REV
version of him from Infinity Challenge, but then again, this is a really nice
sculpt. However, I've found that the most sought after Uniques are the ones that
don't exist in any other form (Nightcrawler, Thanos, etc.) Currently this bad
boy is changing hands for between $20 and $30. Seems a tad low for the second
most expensive point value clix.
My ratings: Playability 4.5 out of 5.
Collectibility 4 out of 5 |

The Hulk, one of the biggest, baddest characters in the
marvel universe, comes to play costing a whopping 209 points! But I tell you
this, he is worth each and every one of them. Darn near invincible, the Hulk
can go toe to toe with anyone; Thanos, Doomsday, Superman, Darksied and
Thor, and come out the victor most of the time. I have even single-handedly
taken out a 300 point Sentinel with a lone Hulk. He already starts with
decent stats, but start hitting him and he gets MAD! Mad enough to have
seven, count em, SEVEN clicks of invulnerability. His attack is just about
through the roof, and his damage value is murderous. AND he only has 2 slots
of KO. The "Savage" Hulk really can do damage, and in a game large enough to
use him in, he rules all. 200- Games: N/A
300+ Games: 4.75/5
Sealed Box: 5/5
The Bottom Line: 3/5 |
