Jean Grey was one of the original X-Men, joining in Uncanny X-Men #1. Initially a powerful telekinetic known as Marvel Girl, she started to undergo a
secondary mutation, and reimagined herself as "The Phoenix". The Phoenix, it turned out, was a strange alien life-force that soon turned evil.

One of the best, if not THE best stories in X-Men history is the Dark Phoenix saga, culminating in Uncanny X-Men #137 in which Phoenix sacrifices herself
to save the entire human race on the dark side of the moon. That was back before the "retconning" of her death, so that Jean Grey was still alive. As far as
I'm concerned, the real Jean Grey is dead, and this other one, is a clone. But that's just me.

While we don't have a Dark Phoenix heroclix, we do have the regular Phoenix, representing Jean's powers right before she goes bad. At 85 points she's cheap
enough to put on a 200 point team. She gets 7 clicks of health, Telekinesis, Energy Shield and Toughness. She starts with a 10 Speed, 9 Attack, 16 Defense and 2 Damage. She gets the X-Men team ability and is a flyer.

Overall, not a bad piece, but certainly not the team buster she ought to be. In the game designer notes WK makes a big deal out of the fact that this isn't Dark
Phoenix, so perhaps you may want to wait for her.

You know Phoenix is a popular character, and logic would dictate that she's a popular heroclix too. She's selling for between $10 and $25, with most of
the sales in the upper part of that range.

My Ratings:

Playability 3.5 of 5
Collectability 4 of 5

Next week - I dunno, but I hope it's DC.
Ed Po Phoenix is basically a taxi for the X-Men. She has a high movement of 10, so
she can taxi out other X-Men far out in to the battle. Her attack is low and
she has telekenisis. So she can taxi 2 ways through telekenisis or just
using the regular carrying. You can attack with her but it will be hard to
hit with her low attack and a damage of 2. Her range is incredibly high at
12! Put a couple of Hydra Operatives next to her and Psylocke and you have
the perfect sniper. She has toughness for 2 clix then gains energy
sheild/deflection. Energy sheild/deflection helps a lot boosting her defense
to 17. Phoenix can be a good piece but she'll need a lot of support though.

Phoenix is a unique so shes a level 6 rarity. Auctions on ebay are all
higher than $15 for her, don't expect to get lucky and not pay too much for
her. There was one buy it now for $25, I'd just go with the auctions.

Her sculpt is alright, it's her with her arm pointing up in the air. I don't
really like green and yellow, but her costume is still good.

Phoenix:

I really want to like this figure, but it just doesn't seem to be worth the points. TK is only a somewhat useful power, and a twelve range IS nice, but overall, not the most useful piece. I hate doing short reviews, but there really isn't much to say about this fig.

Never, EVER underestimate the ability to do 2 damage from 12 squares away for
85 points. Don't even dare. This character alone may not be able to do much,
but, team her up with SHIELD and Psylocke, this little package is deadly.
Approach with caution, here's the verdict:

200:3/5
300:3/5
400+:4/5
