#2 - Hulk LE (Playstation Magazine LE)
Since the beginning WizKids has made several Limited Edition figures
available as mail-aways from magazines. The usual channel of Wizard
magazines was
bypassed for the X-Plosion mail-away (even though it's numbered as if it
were part of the Infinity Challenge set), and instead they placed the
special order form in Playstation Magazine. Why, I have no idea, but it was
probably done to increase sales of the magazine and to promote the Hulk
video game released in concordance with the Ang Lee movie.
Now, I dutifully sent off my order form the moment I got the magazine,
sometime back in July, but as of this writing I have yet to receive my Hulk.
Why? Because WK underestimated the demand for this baby, and didn't
make enough. I have been assured that I will get my two soon (in fact I know
I will since my credit card has been charged already). However, I can still
do a review of him, since his stats are already out in the public.
Now, I don't really know what version of the Hulk they're using here, and
honestly I don't care. I always had an affinity for the "Hulk Smash" kind of
guy (and if you're looking for a great Hulk story, try Bernie Wrightson's
graphic novel "Hulk and Thing in the Big Change"), and this looks to be
pretty much him.
He has a point cost of 96, which seems reasonable enough. 10 Clicks of
health ain't bad either. He's got the standard Hulk powers of Leap/Climb,
Super
Strenght, Toughness, Invulnerability and Battle Fury, all of which don't
start until he's gotten a click of damage (just like most of the other
Hulks). He's costs less than half as much as the Savage Hulk Unique in XP,
and is even less than the Rookie version in IC, which is a real steal,
because with the exception of
the Avengers Team on the Rookie, this version is a ton better.
If you can find one, I say play it in a few games, see if you like him. If
not, I wouldn't worry about it, unless you're a completist. I wouldn't part
with a
ton of money for him though, he's selling for between $20 and $36 on Ebay.
My Ratings:
Playability 3 of 5
Collectability 4 of 5.

What's up. Today, we review The limited
edition PS2 Mail-in Hulk. I have to say that next to Savage Hulk, this my
favorite version. Okay, Hulk weighs in at a bargain 96 points! And for what
you get, he should be higher! He follows the same old "Hulk" method of
becoming more powerful with each hit, you know, "Hulk get scratch, now Hulk
do 4 clicks of damage to puny plastic man. Roar." He starting stats are too
weak to mention, but his peak click is speed of 10("Hulk go fast"), attack
of 11("Hulk never miss"), defense of 17("Haha! Missed Hulk!), and damage of
4("Hulk kill you now"), with Leap/Climb, Super-Duper Strength,
Invulnerability, and Battle Fury. He has nine clicks of living("Hulk never
die"), so he'll be smashing for long time.He also has a excellent sculpt,
and all you had to do to get him was buy the magazine and send away for him.
Did you get yours? I did! Now let's score this mother:
100: 3/5- maybe he could win...
200: 4/5- he's better here.
300: 4/5- see above.
300+: 4/5- maybe you should use Savage Hulk here...

PS2 Hulk
History: Come on folks? Who DOESN'T know who the hulk is? "Dr. Banner
flaunted by gamma rays turned into the Hulk....." This version of The
Incredible Hulk is made to represent the big H's ability to leap "tall
buildings in a single bound" (sound familiar?). Anyways when the hulk leapt
(Sp?) It was like he was flying.
Clix: Like most of the hulk's clix (all actually) you have to make this hulk
very "angry" to bring out it's true potential. Bleh, most clix that have to
power up aren't even worth reviewing, but lets take a look see anyways shall
we? For 96 points (Actually not that bad at all) you get 10 clicks of life
*One is wasted as the unangry Hulk powerless click*. Leap climb (Duh!) for 7
clicks after his initial power up and Super Strength for 8. Toughness for 7
clicks, Invulnerability for 2 (As wacky as it sounds, it goes
Toughness,Invulnerability,Toughness) his damage jumps all over the place,
not being good at all until the 5th Click. Likewise with attack but it gets
good on the 4th click. Also may i point out the worst part of this click NO
RANGE! No range, no charge, no running shot. Pffft shiny trade bait. Without
those powers you will have to move Hulk into position, have him knocked out
before he can actually do any damage, and than moan at the loss of 96
points. The fact that he doesnt get good until way down the dial is AWFUL.
By the time he is good all it takes is an Outwit combined with a couple of
blasts and again hulk is dead.
Sculpt: GAH! I shouldn't have eaten Chili for lunch! (sorry couldn't resist)
This pose is way too overdramatic, though they didn't paint him too horrid.
Constructed: 1.4/5
Sealed: N/A
Sculpt: 3/5
