Pojo's HeroClix "Click of the Day"
Ed Po |
Eclipso is a power house figure with a low price. He has
a speed of 10 with
Mind Control for 4 clix. He's one of the best Mind Control figures in DC
with his attack of 11 and a range of 8. Eclipso's attack stays strong for
about 5, but he's still good the rest of the dial. His damage stays high for
5 clix too, a damage of 4 for 3 clix and a damage of 3 for 2 clix. Eclipso's
defense value is good, but what makes it better is he has Impervious for 3
clix.In addition to that he has 10 clix of heal, he's gonna be hard to take
out. After Impervious he gains toughness then becomes a great Barrier piece.
Eclipso is cheap for what he has, only 108points!
Eclipso is a unique, level 6 rarity. Surprisingly Buy It Nows for him on
Ebay are going pretty cheap, $15. Auctions aren't going to high either,
none going above $10.
His sculpt is one of my favorites from the DC universe. He's holding 2
knives and his costume is awesome. I really like the colors on him, black
suit and blue and orange skin. His silver shoes are nice, too.
Whoops forgot to put the ratings on my review for Eclipso
here they are:

Eclipso- mister half and half.
I like this guy MUCH better than Bizarro, in the sense if he doesn't Mind
Control you, he can deal out 4 clix. With a range of eight for MC, you'd
expect something to keep in the fight longer. Well, check out that amazing
THREE clix of Impervious, with 10 clix of health. For 108 points? That's
just like damn.

When I think of Eclipso, I can't help but think of the DC
Universe Crossover that culminated in a comic book with a plastic "gem"
attached to the cover. This was
at the height of the silly "premium foil/holographic/die-cut/card
insert/multiple cover craze. The comic in question was Eclipso:The Darkness
Within #1, and here's a picture of it:
http://www.fm3d.com/collectables/comics/eclipso/001.htm
(not that I'm advocating buying this comic from these guys, it's just a pic).
In any case, Eclipso is a pretty powerful villain, powerful enough to
"eclipse" pretty much the entire DC Universe in a series of pointless
crossover annuals. (Remember kids this was the early 90's). I guess
lately he's been strengthened (I read somewhere he was appearing in JSA, but
I stopped reading that with #25), so he's even MORE powerful than when he
almost took over the world. Funny, he's only 108 points though.
And what do you get for 108 points? Well, a SILLY sculpt for starters. What
the heck is that? He looks like Bela and Lokai from the Star Trek episode
"Let That Be Your Last Battlefield", only instead of half black/half white,
he's half yellow/half purple, with goofy looking daggers. Come on WK, this
is the best you can do? Heck the DC Direct Action figure is better looking
than this!
He's got decent stats, 1 ranged 8 attack, 10 Speed, 11 Attack, 16 Defense
and 4 Damage. Actually that's better than decent, with a 4 damage! The only
powers
he has are Mind-Control, Impervious, Toughness and Barrier, but again, it's
that darn 4 damage! Too bad he's not RCE or CCE, but then he'd be over 200
points!
Again we see another Cosmic Justice Unique selling for under twenty
bucks...recent auctions have closed for as low as $6.50, but that's out of
the ordinary. Expect to pay somewhere between $12 and $18 on
average.
My Ratings:
Playability 4 of 5
Collectability 4 of 5
