REVIEWED BY CRAMCOMPANY
Today we'll be reviewing THE ORGINAL STATESMAN from
COMIC CONS...that's the only place you can get him.
He's a Indy Click and the first of all the City of
Heroes stuff.
Funny....I don't read statesman's comic. But if I
had to guess, he's very big into America....since
there is alot of states here. Or maybe he's a old
fashioned polition that used to use the phrase
"Statesman of the people." But he's probably just a
flying version of Captain America.
118 points, 12 range with 1 target, He is a City of
Heroes Character, which is a wildcard. 8 clicks of
bashy goodness in all.
MOVEMENT: 10 with charge for a single click. The
flurry and then back to charge for 2 more clicks.
ATTACK: 9,8,9,9,10, 9,8,7. He has super strenght
for most of his dial, then he gains quake and
finishes with a single click of pulse wave.
DEFENSE: 17 invulnerabilty, 16, 14 with toughness
both, 15,16 with invulnerablity both, 15,14,13 all
with toughness.
DAMAGE: Here is where he is so funny. He has
battle fury his entire dial except for his last
pulsewave click. His damage is a little sad too,
3,3,2,2,4,3,2,2
SCULPT: One of the old scupts, he has a nice action
pose and his eyes were too small to be messed up by
the poor eye paint job. Cleverly done.
FEATS: Large Object is good if you're playing a
lower point game. Incontact with Oracle is a must
to give him the better damage or attack if he gets
stuck on a bad click. It's not cards though that
make or break him, it's how you use his wild card.
Sue Storm LE with Fantastic Four team change ability
is a must to get him to his nice defense. I think a
mystic is a must, because he is a trade blows type
of figure. Finnaly....do not put Nova Blast on
him....please.
OVERALL: Here is a breakdown of his positives and
Negatives
ˇ
He's a wildcard and that is the best team to be.
The higher the point cost of the game, the more team
abilities the better he is. Addding stealth,
Mystics and a 19 defense makes him much more
playable.
ˇ
he has charge on his first click, then flurry if you
push him. He goes back to charge after taking a few
clicks. That's very well designed.
ˇ
His invulnerablity is in a nice place. Once in the
front, but if he takes a typical 3 or 4 clicks from
being outwitted he'll move back to the
invulnerablity and be ready to go again.
ˇ
He's ALL over the place in stats, kind of a Joker
meets the Hulk
ˇ
All his abilities are good and usually work well
together
ˇ
Get this man a dumpster.
ˇ
12 range and can not use it until the end. Even if
he makes it too the end the attack is still only a
7.
I like Statesman, he's really fun to play and a nice
reasonably prices (points) wildcard. In a 400 point
game he is a brillant second attacker, but he's easy
to take out, if he's the first stringer.
HE RECEIVES A 3 OUT OF A POSSIBLE 5
THUMBS UP!
Keep it Clicking
