Today we'll be reviewing Positron from City of
Heroes/City of Villans
Positron was created in the depths of marketing.
Struck by a freak price gouging storm, Positron was
changed into a generic armored Heroclick. He has
only one mission in life, to get you to spend $100
on the City of Villains Game.
Unique: 82 Points. 8 clicks. The City of Heroes Team
Ability (wild card)
8 range with a single target.
MOVEMENT: 10 with nothing on the first click, then
10 with running shot on the second click.
ATTACK: 11,10,(10,9,9,8 all with energy
explosion),(8,7 with psychic blast)
DEFENSE: (17 defend), (16,16,15 energy shield
deflection), (15,15 with barrier) 15 toughness, 16
DAMAGE: 3,3,3,2,2,2(1,1 ranged combat expert)
SCULPT: What and awesome looking Iron Man, I mean
War Machine….I mean Positron?
OVERALL: He has A LOT of weird things about him.
• Weird first click. Almost needs to be pushed off
it.
• Wildcard + Sue Storm + Fantastic Four Team Change
+ Energy Shield = a better Human Torch. And Human
Torch in that combo is great!
• All Wildcards that fly and are under 100 points
are pretty good
• Weird combo of powers. Ranged Combat with Psychic
Blast? When would you use one and not the other?
With the damage value set at one you really do not
need both.
• Running shot on his second click?
• High attack!
• Very good defense powers
• Deep dial for the points
• ALOTS O’POWERS: One or two of them are bound to
come in handy.
Positron is a true Swiss army knife of heroclix. Him
on a Fantastic Four team is AMAZING. There is NO
doubt about that. Him standing in a bush from a
ranged attack is a 22 defense to hit. If you build
around him for a wildcard team, he’s great. I can
see people getting a lot of use out of him for many
different teams. Still though, he’s weird. In most
cases you have to push click him and by then running
shot my not be AS good. Either way keep in mind that
he’s a Wild card and every wildcard is worth
considering.
HE RECEIVES A 4 OUT OF A POSSIBLE 5 THUMBS UP!
“Good, Bad, I’m the Guy with the Clix.”

So, this will be Positron, from City
Of Heroes. He’s a Unique that comes in
at 82 points, and that’s secondary attacker
territory… is he worth 82? let’s
find out. 8 range, 1 target, 8 clicks of life and a
wild card. Nice, let’s
see what else:
Stats:
Speed: 10, 10, 9, 8, 9, 9, 8, 8. Running Shot for
the 2nd and 3rd clicks.
Attack: 11, 10, 10, 9, 9, 8, 8, 7. Energy Explosion
from the 3rd to the 6th
click, then Psychic Blast for the last 2.
Defense: 17, 16, 16, 15, 15, 15, 15, 16. Defend for
the 1st click, then
Energy S/D for the following 3 clicks, then 2 of
Barrier, and finally 1 of
Toughness. Nothing on the last one.
Attack: 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1. RCE on the last 2
clicks.
Analysis: He does have nice attack values, and he’s
average on the speed,
damage and defense department (ok, maybe just little
above average on that
last one); and also the powers he sports are neat.
The problem I have with
this guy is, I don’t like the way them show up on
the dial. I don’t get (and
don’t like) the fact that you have to push to get
RS. I also don’t get why
is Defend on his first click and not on the last one
(at least that’d
justify that high defense on the end, that makes him
so darn hard to heal)
Energy S/D, Barrier, and even that single click of
Toughness I like, but it
kind of bothers me the fact that he has both Psychic
Blast and RCE on the
last two clicks (usually you’re only gonna use RCE
for obvious reasons), and
not Psychic Blast on the beginning.
Conclusion: He’s completely playable, even in
tournaments I’d dare to say,
but his messed up powers probably will keep him out
from many teams… If only
he had Psychic Blast on the beginning… at least
that… :S
Ratings:
100 – 1/5 No.
200 – 2/5 Still not enough room.
300 – 2/5 If your gonna use him, this is the place.
Obviously, the higher
the points, the better he is (but not too much)
