Today we
are going to review the R/E/V of Awesome Android
from the Fantastic Forces Set
Awesome
Android (later known as Andy) was created by the Mad
Thinker, using Reed Richards technology. He’s a
robot that later developed his own mind and now
works at a law firm much like Harvey Birdman
attorney at law. Of course Harvey Birdman is
inferior, because HE needs EYES to see. Andy can
adapt to anybody’s super power within a certain
range and has taken on the Fantastic Four several
times, when he is not stealing post it notes and
staplers at She-Hulks law firm.
Cost and Abilities:
Rookie =
96 Points, 8 clicks of life, 6 range with 1 targets,
Dr. Doom ability
Experienced = 125 Points, 9 clicks of life, 6 range
with 1 targets, Dr. Doom Team Ability
Veteran =
131 Points, 9 clicks of life, 6 range with 1
targets, Spider-Man Team Ability
Which is best? The first thing to note is all of them are wild cards. So any
increase they get will not be from the team
ability. There is only 1 click difference between
the three versions and all of the versions have
about the same powers in about the same order. I
understand the most powerful version is the veteran,
but he is also about 45 points more then the rookie
version. Those points can go to Feat Cards and
adding other characters to help abuse his wild card
team ability. Best Figure = ROOKIE
Movement:
7
with no abilities. Oh wait…he has force blast….hmmmm.
I will stick to my original statement and say he has
no abilities. BURRRRRRN! Take that force blast!
Attack:
9 with super strength for three clicks. Thn 8 with
Quake for two clicks and finishes with a pathetic 7.
Defense:
16 with invulnerability for 2 clicks. Followed by
toughness for the rest of the dial.
Damage:
The boy can hit hard for a long while. 3 for half
the dial then 2 with close combat expert for the
rest of the dial.
Sculpt:
Oh he is so cool! He can literally hold figures
and he can hold a sword or a cocktail umbrella. He
also has no eyes and a big mouth, ya gotta love ‘em!
Team Ability:
Wild Card. Being every team ability is better then
anything.
Feats:
Unstoppable is good. Incontact with Oracle is a
must. You saved the points, so use them now!
Battle Field Condition
Darkness
is works for him, because it will help his range.
Poor Teamwork is great for all of the Giant Figures
that already can not be carried.
How to Beat Him: Out ranging him works very well. Throwing a Pog at him and
making him break away or kill it is also a nice
option. Basically tie him up and shoot him from far
away.
How to Play Him: Batman Team, Mystics, Ultimates, Serpent Society are all good
things. Use the Thunderbolt and Jarvis POG combo to
achieve that Team Ability that you just can’t
afford. (Usually Mystics or Ultimates.) IF you
must skip one form this list I recommend Ultimates,
because Andy is mainly a close combat person
anyway. Oh and last but not even close to least;
use the LE Invisible Women and the changing team
fantastic four card. Andy will now be able to copy
a 19 defense and from what I have read in the
papers….that is good.
Overview:
Awesome Andy is pretty darn good if you build a team
around him. There is about 20 wild card characters
that are much, much, much better though.
Prometheus, Taskmaster and rookie Sub-Mariner are
all much better and do the same job. But if you
want to play a big figure, then Awesome Andy is
truly Awes…..NEAT. I would never use that bad of
pun….(Scott uses shifty eyes).
Overall Score:
2.5/5 300 Points (Wildcards always get at least a
two)
3/400 Points
3/500 Points (More to Copy and more reason to have
to use him.)
