Today we'll be reviewing Superman from Icons
When I was growing up I always thought Superman was
kind of boring. In nearly every case he’s the over
dog. I kind of respected Lex Luthor, he’s just a guy
with a hair problem, fighting one of the most
powerful creatures ever. In a way I rooted for
Luthor, when I was a kid.
Now when I read Superman comics I do root for the
Man of Steel. I realize his real struggle is
internal and I can identify with a lone man trying
to do the right thing when it feels like everyone is
counting on him. Superman is one of the few role
models kids have left and I know that I will surely
get my child, (when I have one in 45 years! ;), a
subscription to Superman.
Let’s hope this click does him justice.
Since this is REV instead of just Unique we'll do a
quick run down
WHICH IS BETTER?: The worst is the experienced,
because of the JL team ability and the only modest
upgrade for the points. The Rookie is very good, but
Hypersonic speed is exclusive only to the Veteran.
There is only one clear cut winner here and that is
The Veteran
MOVEMENT: 13 with three important clicks of
Hypersonic Speed. His biggest weakness is that he
has not movement abilities past that.
ATTACK: 12,11,11,10,10,9,9,8,8,7,7 all with super
strength
DAMAGE: a very well thought out high damage
throughout 5’s and 4’s with ranged combat expert
sporadically.
SCULPT: This is the perfect Superman Sculpt.
OVERALL: I took a long time to really think about
Superman and give him a non-hyped review. Here is
the major points.
• With 11 clicks, impervious and other damage
reducers he has a VERY long dial.
• He can easily snipe any Outwitters, even with
their stealth. So outwit should not be a HUGE
problem for him.
• He much like Ultimate Thor will ALWAYS hit for A
LOT!
• He UNLIKE Ultimate Thor does not have a high
attack throughout the dial.
• Hypersonic with 10 range can make him very hard to
catch
• Lockjaw will be able to catch him and killing
Lockjaw will become a priority when playing against
him.
• Lockjaw is becoming more popular then the Beatles
were
• Superman has only one target
• So many Points…255
• He’s the most accurate Superman ever
If you are playing him on you’re team, you’re pretty
much just playing him. The first person to compare
him to is NOT KC Superman, but actually Count
Nafaria. The Count has all of his stats and
similarities on his front dial, just a few lower
points of each. Do those few lower points truly
matter? Yes, yes they do, and greatly. I do not
doubt that Superman is the best figure in the set,
yes even over Darkseid and I think it is great that
they made him. I don’t even own a KC Superman, so
being able to get this version at a lot more
reasonably price is great. But there is a lot of
changes to the game right now, Lockjaw is really
downgrading Hypersonic Speed. I think most Lockjaw
teams CAN beat Superman, but I don’t think they
ALWAYS will. His front click is the best front click
ever made…except for Galactus and Dark Phoenix. I
except to see him and can not wait to play him, but
he is NOT as devastating as you think. He truly has
only three clicks and then a well balanced team will
surround him and take him out. BUT he will
definitely be a viable and I will say, THE MOST
VIABLE option for a one man team.
Thank you Wizkids, you have done the Red, Yellow and
Blue justice.
HE RECEIVES A 4.5 OUT OF A POSSIBLE 5 THUMBS UP!
Good, Bad, I’m the Guy with the Clix

PS: Thank you all for your congratulations. If you
have not heard, I was lucky enough to win a Galactus.
Thank you all and thank you Wizkids.

If we are getting
a new base set from DC, we need a new R/E/V from
their
(and THE) most well known superhero, don’t we? So,
we get yet another
version of Superman. Specially since we didn’t get
any in the last set
(Legacy). An interesting thing is that each Superman
version has topped the
last: the R/E/V and the Uniques from Hyperytime were
beaten for the Cosmic
Justice (The Son Of Darkseid), and this one was
beaten as well by the
Unleashed (the almighty KC Supes) The question is
obvious… will this
Superman be able to top the KC monster? let’s see:
Rookie: 9 clicks of health, 10 range 1 target, Sup.
TA 197p.
Experienced: 10 clicks of health, 10 range 1 target,
JLA TA 222p.
Veteran: 11 clicks of health, 10 range 1 target Sup.
TA Costs 251p.
So, which is best? I guess that the Rookie can be
better than the Exp with
ICWO and some other feat (specially for the Supes
TA), and because the range is the same, and the
values aren’t that different. But the Vet has,
besides
the better values and the larger dial, the change of
Running Shot and Charge for HSS. So, I’ll do the
Vet.
Stats:
Speed: 13, 12, 10, 10, 10, 9, 9, 9, 8 ,8, 8. HSS for
the first 3 clicks,
Force Blast on the 8th and 9th.
Attack: 12, 11, 11, 10, 10, 9, 9, 8, 8, 7, 7. Full
dial of Super Strength.
Defense: 18, 17, 16, 18, 17, 16, 15, 17, 16, 15, 14.
Starts with Impervious
for 3 clicks, then 4 of Invulnerability, and
finishes with Toughness all the way.
Damage: 5, 5, 4, 5, 5, 4, 4, 5, 5, 4, 3. RCE for the
6th, 7th, 10th, 11th.
Analysis: Well, I like how his defense is figured
out, as well as his damage values. His attack could
be better although, and all that Super Strength is
wasted… I mean, are you really gonna go into close
combat with that TA and
the 10 range? As for his speed… it’s not bad,
starting with that HSS is
pretty nasty (because of the Supes TA and the
range)… it’s just too bad that it doesn’t last long,
but if you use him correctly, you shouldn’t have a
problem anyway.
Conclusion: He has a slightly lower attack than KC
Superman, less HSS, and
hits for less overall; but he has a better defense,
and starting with HSS
and having that TA over the KC plus the 14 points
you save, all that is an
important edge over the other Supes.
Ranking:
100 – N/A
200 – N/A
300 – 3/5 Put him with a Exp. DEO Agent and some
feats, Radiation Leak, and
the game is yours.
400+ – 4/5. Even for a 500 he’s costy (there he’d be
half the team!).But he
is powerful. With the proper support (which you can
get with 249p.) he’s
unstoppable.
Ah, another
weekend done, 48 hours wasted, etc. etc. etc. Today
we're looking at the Man of Steel himself Superman!

The Review:
In the world of comics, it doesn't get any bigger
than this guy, Big Blue. Superman. If you're playing
him, he is the team. And not too bad of a team
either. The HSS up front is incredible, and three
clicks of Imperv with an 18 defense is awesome. The
repeated 5 damage though is the biggest plus to him.
You have 6 clicks out of 11 that are at five damage.
Now for every pro there is a con, a Yin to a Yang,
hot to a cold, good to a bad, Batman Begins to
Batman and Robin. Here's the big thing about our
Superman. He, like all other bricks, is the biggest
target of Outwit. Everyone uses it, and using it
against Supes is a no-brainer. Also, the high
defense, while good, will pretty much cripple any
healer you might be packing. Simply put, the most
standard healer (V Paramedic) needs a 6 on the last
click, and it only goes up from there.
Feats to use with him: Fortitude is almost mandatory
with him. Unstoppable would be great on an indoor
map, especially with the HSS. I also like Rip it Up
for him, especially early on, for obvious reasons.
It's at this point I would like to talk about 3D
objects. There are quite a few of the bloody things,
all of which have special abilites with it. For
example, the crate is a light object, but can be
tossed 8 squares. The Dumpster, in particular, is
awesome, as it acts as a heavy object, and is not
destroyed after it is used, merely placed somewhere
adjacent. These objects are a major force to be
reckoned with in tournaments as with this object
Superman becomes even more deadly as you can
continously power him up.
