Today we'll be reviewing Meggan from
Sinister
She’s the Bizzaro Michael Jackson. A white female
click that turns black on her veteran.
Yeah, you’re right, my jokes are becoming more
adult.
Rookie: 53 points, No Team
Experienced: 63 points, X-men Team
Veteran: 87 points, X-Men Team
Who is the Best:
Take the Rookie out of the running right away,
because she has an 8 attack. The Vet has Running
Shot, with Super Strength and an Impressive 18
defense. The Experienced has 16 defense with Combat
Reflexes, Charge, Blades/Claws and Shape Change
(which is great for a close combat character). Both
are all right, but I think that the Experienced
seems to have more synergy. Winner: Experienced
MOVEMENT:
Charge is okay and works with Blades/Claws so that
is good. Flurry in the middle of dial is never a
bad thing, and then she gains Earthbound, which I do
not think is a big deal.
ATTACK:
This is what kills her only a 9 attack with
Blades/Claws. If you have Blades then you should
have a higher attack, because you have to roll again
for damage and hope for a second lucky roll. Super
Strength will not do much on a second click, but it
doesn’t hurt. The nice attack spikes really help
the character.
DEFENSE:
16 with Combat Reflexes mean she’s an 18 up close.
Toughness may help, but if it does it is completely
happen chance.
DAMAGE:
2 with Shape Change is basically Super Senses. That
means Meggan has an 18 with Super Senses, pretty
impressive.
SCULPT:
She seems like and angry kitty! Meow!
Feat Cards:
If they clarify the Pummel card and allow for Charge
then that would help out the low attack. I would
not use Protected, because if you hit her she’s
going to get a better attack with Flurry. Incontact
is always good.
OVERALL:
Very High Defense
Low Attack
Charge with Blades/Claws is always good
Short Dial
Flying may hurt her
What does she do that a hundred other characters
don’t do better?
She has a lot of the right stats, but gives me an
uneasy feeling to play. 18 is a nice defense, but
that is not unhittable. If Meggan does get it’s
pretty much all over for her and I just think there
are far too many characters with a higher attack and
Blades/Claws that are even cheaper then her. Give
her a shot if you want, but I think LE Cheetah is a
lot better.
HE RECEIVES 2.5 OUT OF A POSSIBLE 5
THUMBS UP!

Rurouni KJS
Meggan! Shapshifting consort for
Captain Britain, founding member of Excalibur.
Powers and analysis:
1st click is full of Charge, Super Strength,
Toughness and Perplex. 2nd click swaps in Shape
Change while the 3rd loses Charge. Clicks 4 & 5 lose
all powers except Shape Change.
R Meggan starts a weak brick and gets worse from
there. Perplex offers some flexibility, but not
much.
It's a little unfortunate that once she gets the
improved Shape Change, she's practically not a
factor as an attacker. At 40 or so points, she'd be
fine, but at over 50 she feels overcosted. That 2
range is deeply useless.
Feats:
ENTANGLE is probably the best fit if you push her to
attack early. CAMOUFLAGE is usable, but at that
point you want Megs holding down enemy shooters, not
hiding from them.
Themes:
I think she appeared in Capt. Britain's UK book even
before Excalibur, so add in a R Psylocke (aw) for an
old-school Braddock family theme.
Comic accurate?
Pretty much, yeah.
In sum:
Usable either as an early alpha-strike piece that
converts to sacrificial tie-up or as back-field
Perplexer and late-game cleanup girl. But you'll
never chose her outside of sealed or themed games.
Rating: 2.5/5. Gets a boost for being able to do 5
clicks solo.
Powers and analysis:
Click 1 is fully packed with Charge,
Blades/Claws/Fangs, Combat Reflexes and Shape
Change.
Click #2 swaps in Super Strength while #3 switches
in Flurry. 4th click changes a lot: Strength is out,
Battle Fury and Toughness are in. She's Earthbound
as of click #5 but regains BCF. She loses Toughness
on the final click.
A vast upgrade from the Rookie, Exp. Meggan is a
dangerous piece, able to do a lot of damage on all
her clicks. Her attack value also remains VERY solid
for most of her dial. She's good enough, without
feats, to serve as a fine 2nd attacker. Kinda wish
she started with SStrength, but oh well.
Feats:
CAMOUFLAGE is perfect; she can creep next to walls
mostly unshootable until she gets close enough to
Charge an enemy and gut 'em. An additional
HEIGHTENED REFLEXES could save her from being
neutered by Hypersonic enemies, but that's probably
more points that you want to pile on her.
Themes:
Meggan's a founding Excalibur member, so team her up
with Capt. Britain, Nightcrawler, Phoenix (ult) E
Shadowcat (sin) and Lockheed for a themey time.
Comic accurate?
Yep. Well represents the tougher side of Meggan as
she flexed her lessening co-dependence on her BF Cap
Britain.
In sum:
Packed with high damage potential and attack values,
she's definitely the prize of the REV set.
Powers and analysis:
Starts off with Running Shot, Super Strength and
Toughness. 2nd click swaps in Charge. Click #3 adds
Shape Change while #4 drops Charge. Toughness is
lost as of 5th click but Perplex is gained, and the
6th-7th clicks lose Super Strength.
V Meggan is a straightforward brick to start, with
excellent alpha-strike/tie-up value in the
beginning.
One could use her well to RunShoot an enemy, basing
him, then push to hit him with the heavy object she
brought along. The Perplex all over the latter half
of her dial is good for boosting her teammates if
you can get her away from the killing fields to do
it.
Feats:
There really aren't any that cry out to be used on
her. Her SC clicks are too late and few to bother
with carding.
Themes:
Excalibur again, but later in the team's lifespan.
Comic accurate?
I guess. She's certainly different.
In sum:
Overcosted for her late-dial fragility, but her
front end is very solid.
Rating: 3.5/5 Added half-point for that 18 def!

Meggan
First than anything, happy independence day for you all! I’m
Argentinian
(ours it’s the 9th of July) but I know well that the 4th of
July is yours,
so enjoy! As for our clix of the day, we take a look at a
R/E/V from
Sinister, Meggan. I have no clue of who she is (so many
X-Men!) As for her
R/E/V: All of them are flyers, none has Archenemy, and while
the Rookie has
no TA, the Exp. and Vet. are members of the X-Men Team. The
rookie comes at
53 points, the experienced is 63 points and the veteran 87
points. And her
stats:
Meggan (#076)
Dial 1 General Dial Information
Front Arc 360 Range 2
Rear Arc 0 Range Attacks 1
Analysis: I’ll focus on the Experienced, since both the
rookie and the
veteran are way too overpriced for the powers and numbers
they have.
This girl has some attractive points: she’s almost always
hard to hit from
close thanks to Combat Reflexes and Shape Change for the
first half and then
she has nice late defense values (and some Toughness that
might be useful…
maybe). Beware though, this means she’s not easy to heal.
She has an
insignificant 4 range which you shouldn’t use since she
works from close,
not only because of CR, but for Charge, B/F/C, Flurry… and I
although I feel
you’ll never use it, I have to mention it: her second click
with Charge +
Super Strength. Her attack is good for the cost. Earthbound
shouldn’t be a
big problem for this girl and neither should Battle Fury,
since she won’t be
using her range much.
Conclusion: A good possibility for a X-Men Team, but nothing
more. There
are better 3rd strings attackers out there; there are even
characters of
similar characteristics that are better, like Veteran
Cheetah from Icons,
which is 8 points cheaper and has a better offensive (more
B/F/C and much
nicer attack)
A better reviewer would
recite what he reads from Whoclix to you, but I am not one
of them, so you know where to check.
The rookie is not that great,
and even though the vet has running shot and an 18 def, I
like the power combinations on the Experienced more. The
best is the Experienced.
She comes in at 63 points, 4
range 1 target, 6 clicks of life, is a flier, and an X-Men
team member.
Speed: 8,8,7,7,7,6 Charge for 2, Flurry for 2, then
Earthbound for 2
Attack: 9,9,10,9,8,7 BCF for one, then 2 of Super
Strength, 1 of nothing, then 2 of BCF
Defense: 16,16,15,15,16,17 Combat Reflexes first
three, then two of toughness, then nothing
Damage: 2,2,3,3,2,2 Shape Change first 3, Battle
Fury last three
The Good: Charge and BCF work great
Charge and SS work
great
Flurry with a 3 damage
is great
Shape Change and a 18
def from close with charge and BCF is an amazing package
Constantly High Def and
Shape Change make her hard to hit
High attack values
The Bad:
The Battle Fury keeps her from being carried back for a
medic
Her def
is very hard to heal
Feats: Camouflage works good for sneaking up to
BCF, besides that I wouldn’t bother
Overall: When I pulled a her in a booster, I was
floored. Everyone knows that Shape Change is now one of the
most annoying abilities in the game. It is what makes Vet
Enchantress such a hassle to fight. Combine that with an 18
def from close and Charge and BCF you are sitting very
pretty for 63 points. She is an amazing secondary attack, a
real gem. Also, she is one of those few cheap flurry pieces
who actually has the damage to hurt anyone. I am actually
glad that her 10 attack comes on the flurry attack, because
a better shot at 6 clix of damage is better than hoping for
something good with BCF. When she gets hit, she gets hit
hard, but her high def will keep her annoying for the long
haul. The 4 range is nothing great, but it is a nice
option. Overall, I love this piece. She is a great
secondary attacker in 300 point games and in higher she is
almost throwaway points, which makes her dangerous. Sure,
there are better BCF pieces out there, but none are quite as
annoying. On her low attack clicks, she is great X-men team
fodder. A must for X-men teams and great for constructed
and sealed.
