Powers and analysis:
1st two clicks are all about Running Shot and
Invulnerability.
3rd click drops to Toughness but gains Range Combat
Expert.
4th & 5th clicks lose Running Shot and get
Incapacitate.
6th click gets Force Blast and Energy Explosion,
losing RCE.
But the final click gets RCE right back.
With a nice, steady Attack Value, excellent starting
defense and high damage all down the dial, Rhodey
here is a dangerous, hard to hurt piece. The dial's
a little short and the lack of a TA (and a 2nd
target) hurts. But you really don't want to see him
across the table from you. And I do mean
"across"...range is his game. Try not to let him get
based so he can't use his guns.
Feats:
Aside from the usual standbys (ICWO, PROTECTED),
nothing really fits. NANOBOTS or TRICK SHOT are
usable mid-dial, but only for a few clicks each.
Themes:
Any armored theme. Pal him with his old boss, friend
and occasional rival Tony Stark. He was also a
member of The Crew, a short-lived mishmash of urban
vigilantes, but he's the only one made in clix form.
And so I'll be putting him on my racist Black
Anti-White Boy Revolutionaries theme team.
Comic accurate?
I guess. Seems there ought to be some Super Strength
in there, but War Machine was always a more
gun-oriented suit than Iron Man proper.
In sum:
Despite the aforementioned weaknesses, James Rhodes
is a solid piece all around.

Rhodes from Sinister
We end LE week with a very good click (Finally!!!). It’s
the LE of the star attraction of Armor Wars…War machine.
He is an LE, 111 points, 8
range 1 target, 7 clicks of life, a flier, and no team
Speed: 12,10,8,10,9,9,8 Running shot first three,
Force Blast last two
Attack: 10,10,9,9,9,8,8 Incap for clicks 4 and 5,
EE last two
Defense: 18,17,16,16,16,15,15 Invuln for two,
Toughness for four
Damage: 3,3,3,2,2,4,3 RCE clicks 3-5 and 7
The Good: 3 clicks of running shot is great
Good range
Good, consistent attack
Able to do a lot of
damage
High Def
Damage reducers keep
him around a while
Able to be pushed
Very good for the
points
High movement
The Bad: Incap and EE with one target is pointless
Hard to heal
Force blast will always
be wasted points
Seth that tease…why no 4
damage first click?
Why no double targets
like all the other WM’s?
Feats: ICWO, Protected…..Nanobots and Trick Shot
aren’t that great for him because of the last of ability to
really use it. If the RCE was frontloaded it would be a
different story.
Overall: If you couldn’t tell by now….I love this
click. I wish I had him. The high def, the consistent
attack, the high movement….he is an offensive powerhouse.
In a 300 point game, he needs some perplex on his side to
help that damage. In higher point games, he is one of the
best secondary attackers out there. There is no bad version
of War Machine, and the LE is no exception. He is capable
of even more damage than the REV for about the same points.
I wish he kept the double targets, then he would be all
around awesome.
