Today we'll be reviewing Hal Jordan (Spectre)
a Convention Exclusive
How do you review Spectre? I believe it starts with
a story. I had just won the World Championship and
my friend Jim and I went back to the Hotel. I’m
ashamed to admit that after 3 solid days of playing
Heroclix we played some more Heroclix. Jim had
unpackaged his Spectre and challenged me at his 600
point dial. I put together a team that was roughly
1500 points… against the 600 point Spectre. I used
a ton of Pulsewave and Hyper Sonic Speed and I
lost.
That is how good Spectre is.
LE: 600 points, Mystics Team
MOVEMENT:
Phasing… which is nice on those indoor maps. He can
move anywhere, as he should.
ATTACK:
13 with Psychic Blast, then Energy Explosion which
is bad for his Hal Jordan dial, but good for the
rest. (He EE’s at for 3 damage if you play his
VET). TK is Pointlless… very pointless. Pulsewave
is definitely hard core, even on his first dial.
Just being able to Multi-Attack Pulsewave is
ridiculous. Note his attack does go down to a 9 and
10.
DEFENSE:
This is where you hate this guy. His defense keeps
bouncing up. 21 defense after he has attacked some
is pretty much goodnight for any team. He even has
20 at the end. Probability control and 19 defense
is really brutal. It’s his defense that makes him
so invincible.
DAMAGE:
7 with Outwit and Psychic Blast. Exploit Weakness
is decent. His damage does drop realitly fast.
Probablity Control is just insane!
SCULPT:
My belief is all the spirts are trying to not look
at him in his Speedo. Not a costume that I would
wear on Halloween.
Feats:
I believe you can add some.? Protected is truly the
most brutal to add, but I would probably stop
there…. Give your opponent some symphony.
OVERALL:
He’s nearly unbeatable.
He should at least be 900 points
He is not as good as Galactus, because he gets only
2 attacks instead of 3
Spectre is better then everybody but Galactus
Spectre is re-donk-u-lous. When you play against
him you’ll need a lot of Suicide Squad healing,
Pulsewave, Stealth, Probability Control, (at least 6
or more characters of with re-roll) and a way to
deal a lot of damage fast.
If you’re playing Spectre against somebody please
remember to be nice to that person. You’re not
playing clever or awesome you’re just playing the
second best figure ever made.

The Spectre
wing speed
600, 1200 & 1800 points
Team: Mystics (Hal Jordan), JSA (Jim Corrigan),
Quintessence (Spirit of Vengeance)
Range: 12 x 2 (Hal Jordan), 14 x 3 (Jim Corrigan),
16 x 3 (Spirit of Vengeance)
--------------------------------
DIAL: 41 deep!
Powers and analysis:
I am NOT listing all those powers. But he's got 20
clicks of Psychic Blast, 8 of Pulse Wave, 17 of
Outwit and 18 of Impervious, just to name the
highlights.
How do you even rate Spectre? He'll eat the souls of
any force set against him at any level. Maybe either
of the Phoenixes could take him IF he misses all his
Impervious rolls. The only clix that can reliably
challenge him is Galactus, and that's only because G
gets to out-action Spectre 3-to-2...the cheater.
Feats:
He doesn't need them! Can you even put feats on
colossal characters?
Themes:
He fits with JSA just nice on his Experienced dial,
finally giving that team a nice high defense to
leech off of. Sometimes, anyhow; note that normal
JSA figs have to -2 from any defense shared by big
Jim here.
Comic accurate?
He's the freaking Wrath of DCU's GOD, so yeah,
pretty much.
In sum:
Basically he's what DC's Galactus would be sans his
triple-attack ability...y'know like the REST of the
colossal figures.
Rating: 4.5/5. Galactus owns him so he loses the
half-star.

Hello to everyone I'm Jeremy and before i get in to
anything i dont read the comics often if at all so I
know DrStrange says it go to Whoclix. This is my
review on the Hal Jorden version of Spectre
Toughess for the next ten and nothing for the last
one
Damage
7 7 6 6 6 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 4 4 4 4 4
Outwit for the first seven
Exploit Weakness for the next 4 then nothing for the
next two
Probability Control for the next four and nothing
for the last two
The Good.... The Godly
Everything nine clix of phasing to go anywhere not
that he'll need to
Always high attack
Extremley long range
The lowest his damage gets is 4 and most clixs dont
even get that high
All of his damage reducers will keep him around
forever
The Bad
From clix 10 to 19 there is no movement ability
The Pulse Wave or even the Telekinesis should be
before the EE
Feats
You don't need any this clix is beastly by itself
Overall
This clix is a beast...this is one of those clix
that you will aspire to have and when you finally
get it unless your friends don't get mad at you for
using it so much, will do nothing but gather dust.

After becoming Parallax, Hal Jordan was about as bad as
they could come. He destroyed the Green Lantern Corps, his
friends, and even tried to rewrite history. After a lot of
negative reaction from fans, he sacrificed his life to
re-ignite the sun. He then was chosen to be the Spectre to
be the Spirit of Vengeance for a while until Geoff Jones
decided to make it that Hal really didn’t do anything
wrong.
He is a Rookie Convention Exclusive, comes in
at 600 points, 19 clicks of life, 12 range 2 targets, a
Mystic and a Quintessence.
Speed: Starts at 16 and ends with 10 Phasing first
9
Attack: Starts at 13 and ends at 9 Psy Blast, EE,
TK, PW, and PB again throughout
Defense: Starts at a 19 and ends at 20 with spikes
all around and the trinity of Impervious, Invulnerability,
and Toughness throughout
Damage: Starts at a 7 and ends at a 4 Outwit, EW,
and Prob Control throughout
The Good: So many goodies with Quintessence
High Numbers all around
Long Dial
Not too many weaknesses
The Bad: High Point cost
Not really playable outside of friendly
play
Will lose to Galactus
Feats: You’re spending 600 points on a figure, why
spend more?
Overall: This one is short and sweet. If you are
playing in anything over a 600 point tournament and don’t
feel like really having fun, use him. He is too much for
constructed, but is great for fun play. I did not buy one
when I was at WWE, but I was tempted. In a high enough
point game, you could make a team to take him out.
Constructed/Unrestricted: 4.5 / 5
(unrestricted of course)
Sealed/Draft: N/A / 5
Overall: 4.5 / 5

Hal Jordan-Rookie
600 Points
12 Range 2 Targets
Mystics/Quintessence TA
Let me first off say that if you do happen to play
him, it's best to just do
one 600 point team because two 300 point teams will
have a tough time against him... and three 200 point
teams will have an even harder time. I can't really
give tips or anything oni how to play him because,
well, he's the Spectre. I can, however, give some
tips how to beat him.
This a real, real tough first review for me. What
you want is high attack, and the ability to run away
after a hit. So Hyper Sonic Speed is pretty obvious.
What you REALLY don't want is to invest all of your
points into big
hitters like Supes. His rules say he avoids Exploit
Weakness and such, but it says nothing about Armor
Piercing. So Kingdom Come Flash, Icons Flash, well
almost all Flashes are good. What you really want to
do is get high movement HSSers and lots and lots of
them. Same goes for Medics, PCers and Perplexers.
Even if you do somehow manage to wear him down a
little, he's still got a 20 Defense at the end. Good
luck.
The Good:
-Defense as high as 21, and only as low as 17,
-Double Psychic blast for seven, -Outwit,
-Impervious, -Immune to Push Damage, EW, PB, and
lots more, -Need I go on?
The Bad:
-err..
600:5/5 Good luck.
700+: N/A/5 I believe he can only be used in 600
point tournaments.
This is my first review, and the Spectre is pretty
much impossible to review.

*Introductions:
*Some of you may know me from various website names,
usually Pojopembo (I wonder where that came from...)
or Paladin-Yugi.
Here are five bits of information for your viewing
pleasure (or, you know, just skip to the review...);
* I am 17, and hail from Leeds, UK.
* I've played various games in the past, including
Yu-Gi-Oh! and
Magic: The Gathering, but I mostly reside in playing
Heroclix
every weekend.
* My favourite Heroclix piece of the moment is Ka-Zar
– anyone who
can wear a loincloth in public and still slash you
to bits is a
hero in my book.
* I am currently testing teams to play at a UK
convention in one
month's time. Any suggestions, you kknow where to
call
* ...or do you? My e-mail is ajpem@dsl.pipex.com
<mailto:ajpem@dsl.pipe.com>, so any critique,
suggestions, or just
want a good talk about heroclix, give me a mail.
Now, after that (boring) introduction, onto the
review...!
*Range: *Well, looks like Spectre makes it into the
12-rangers club.
That 12 range plus 2 targets probably will ensure
that you'll always hit at least 1 target, especially
from him taking up a mid-board position.
*Speed: *Phasing is never a bad power...well, not
unless you have a
figure as colossal as Spectre in your control.
Though having no move and
attack powers does hurt him, that 16 movement will
ensure he'll always
be within range for a strike on the following turn.
*Attack: *Now here's where it gets
interesting...multiple clicks of both
Psychic Blast and Pulse Wave thrown in with high
attack values means
that Spectre will probably hit anything for some
major damage when he
needs to. Energy Explosion will lay some serious
hurting on any support
pieces your opponent is using, especially if they're
bunched up
together. The only thing I see redundant here is TK...Sure,
you could
push away a target from your base if he has
something like an object
with Super Strength or Close Combat Expert, but even
if they are close,
you will still be able to throw some damage through
with his damage powers.
*Defence: *Standard throughout the dial...high
defences never dropping
below a 17, and often reaching 19, 20 or 21
throughout different points
in the dial, making him hard to hit. Impervious,
Invulnerability and
Toughness also helps him keep him from getting hurt
too much.
*Damage: *High Damage values (as expected), and only
drop steadily
throughout the dial. Outwit seems slightly out of
place at the start
with the opening clicks of Psychic Blast, but you
can get rid of some
trouble powers instead of having to use it on the
opposing click's
defensive abilities. Exploit Weakness is nice, also
keeping up with his
still high damage values. Finally, a splatter of
Probability Control at
the end helps protect him from the last few attacks,
and helps him hit
the pulse wave attacks.
*Funny Story: *I have a Spectre whose Hal Jordan
dial does not click...I
ended up taking 20 minutes on multiple occasions to
try and click it
down. I finally had to take a knife to it, and
slotting it sideways into
the grooves of the dial helped it turn with little
more pressure.
*Ratings: *I would give Hal Jordan a 4/5 for
tournament play wherever he
can fit. In 600 point games, he is a monster against
what little power
figures your opponent could cook up. Any higher
still makes him a
threat, but 1200-2000 point games I would be tempted
to go for the Jim
Corrigan and Spirit of Vengeance dials, just for the
added clicks of
higher values and deadly powers.
