Today we'll be reviewing Graviton from
Super Nova
I think I used to ride the Graviton at the fair. It
used to spin around and around and you get stuck to
the sides, because of the gravitational force. That
was a fun ride, let’s see if the character lives up
to the ride.
Unique: 178 points, No Team
MOVEMENT:
Three clicks of Running Shot, which is great.
Forceblast which they seem to throw on any character
they like that is over 150 points.
ATTACK:
11 attack at the beginning, with Incap is usually
terrible, but with 3 targets and 12 range it is
pretty sweet. TK is really stupid on figures that
are your entire team. Quake is basically retarded
on him. Pulsewave and 7 attack is pretty lame to
end with.
DEFENSE:
Impervious for two clicks in a row with 17 is pretty
sweet. 17 defense 5 clicks in a row is amazing. I
wish his defense at the end was a little lower,
because he needs the ability to heal.
DAMAGE:
Very random damage values. Every time he has no
chance of hitting he has a 5 damage. He gets 4
damage sometimes at convenient moments and when it’s
3 damage he seems to have incapacitate. He’s a
tough, tough character to play.
SCULPT:
I love the rocks thing, but it really looks like he
is causally making a statue or something.
FEATS:
In contact, Protected, blah, blah. Those are both
important for him to use, but I also recommend
Stunning Blow and Armor Piercing. Giving three
characters 1 damage and 1 token each can definitely
effect a game in a huge way. If he can do that
twice, he has a good chance of his opponent never
cracking his defense.
OVERALL:
3 targets and a 12 range is amazing
His damage or lack of makes him very hard to play.
Professor X is much cheaper and has not proven
useful
He has a lot of interesting power combos that will
make him a fun challenge to play.
He is unfortunately a supporting piece and excellent
second attacker, but at his point cost he has to be
the number 1 attacker
Excellent defense, he is very cleverly and
thoughtfully designed
I really like him and intend to play him in games
that start at the 500 point mark. He can not be
played competitively in 300 point games, he just
does not stack up. I think he is fun and will need
some Prob control and Hydra team to help his harsh
attack numbers at the end. He is also very hard to
heal and can not use a team ability to get around
that. I like the triple target Stunning Blow Armor
Piercing combo, I like it enough to try it, but not
enough to recommend it. He’s interesting though,
very interesting.ealHeal
HE RECEIVES 3.5 OUT OF A POSSIBLE 5
THUMBS UP!

Hey you guys! how is it going? Fine? Sweet.
Well, as we progress with Supernova, now comes Graviton’s
turn. As usually with anything that’s not DC’s, I have no
clue where this guy comes from. He’s a Unique, he’s not
cheap (178 points), he’s a flyer, he has no archenemy, he
has no TA, he has 10 clicks of health, he has 12 range 3
targets, he… oh, right, no more things to add :P So :
Stats:
Speed: 8, 10, 8, 9, 8, 7, 7, 7, 7, 7. First 3 clicks have
Running Shot, then one with nothing, then 3 with Force Blast
and that’s all.
Attack: 11, 9, 9, 8, 9, 10, 9, 8, 7, 7. 1st click has
Incapacitate, 2nd and 3rd have Telekinesis, 4th and 5th have
Quake, 6th, 7th and 8th have Incapacitate again and the last
2 have Pulse Wave.
Defense: 17, 17, 17, 17, 17, 16, 16, 15, 14, 14. 1st and 2nd
clicks have Impervious, 3rd and 4th clicks have
Invulnerability, the next 4 have Toughness and the last 2
have nothing at all.
Damage: 3, 4, 5, 5, 4, 3, 3, 3, 4, 5. No powers.
Analysis:
His Speed is good. A 12 range with 3 targets and 3 clicks of
Running Shot front loaded is very sweet. I do have to
mention, having first an 8, then a 10… upsets me. Force
Blast is useless.
His Attack is far from nice, at least for my taste: starts
good for his points with an 11, but then (except for a 10
loose somewhere later on) he has 9’s and 8’s… not very cool
for nearly 180 points. Incapacitate with that range and 3
targets is cool and would call for Stunning Blow, but given
how it is placed, better not risk it. So it is useful, but
not that much, as incapacitating 3 opposing figures is cool,
but probably not what you wanna do with an 180 points guy.
Telekinesis is not good for high point figures, and it’s
worse if it’s not front loaded. Quake is also unnecessary in
this case.
His Defense is… sort of so-so. I can take those values, they
make him not easy to hit throughout his whole dial… he can
be healed at the end, but with the current Support rulings,
you won’t be healing him much. He has the holy trinity of
defense powers, but he definitely needs more. There
shouldn’t be a single white spot there.
His Damage is all over the place. If he had some powers, it
would make it easy to swallow, but he does not.
Conclusion: Well, not very hard to decide. 12 range with 3
targets and
Running Shot makes him very appealing, but that’s nothing
but a trap. The
truth is, this guy pretty much sucks. If he had a 5 damage
on the front, at
least he would a front loaded character… he’s not even that.
He’s not
something you could really ignore since a lucky roll (with
9’s and 8’s,
you’ll need 8’s and 9’s to hit the average 17 defense, and
those are not
really easy rolls) could screw one of your guys if he’s on
one of those high
damage clicks; but for almost 180 points you need
consistency and he does
not have that. There’s not 1 single click where he’s a
powerhouse.
Ranking: 2.25/5. Because he has a good reach and CAN do SOME
damage.
Speed: Running shot with a 12 range is awesome,
force blast…waste
Attack: Pretty good values, incap and 3 targets is
awesome, pulse wave is always good, quake and Tk are wasted
on him
Defense: The trifecta of damage reducers, but why
not till end of dial
Damage: Always above 3 and always dangerous
The Good: Long dial and damage reducers keep him
around a while
Amazing range and 3
targets is awesome
I love the sculpt
The Bad: No damage reducers at end sucks
Too bad no outwit, isn’t
he supposed to be some kind of genius?
Feats: ICWO, Protected, Stunning Blow work great
for him
Overall: I like this guy a lot. Any time I see 12
range I am happy, but the three targets makes it even
better. He needs help for damage at times but is still a
threat all throughout his dial. The attack values are a
little disappointing especially for this set but they are
passable. The Telekenisis is wasted because you will need a
TK’er for him to get out there. I think he could hold a
team down in a 300 point game, and I look forward to pulling
him. Man, that is a really cool sculpt.
Constructed/Unrestricted: 3.5 / 5
Sealed/Draft: 3 / 5
Overall: 3.5 / 5
