So, this is the LE of Kang, Nathaniel
Richards… huh… er… okay, let’s get down to business: Cost:
167 points. Treats: Flight, no archenemy, 8 clicks of
health, Minions of Doom TA (aka Wildcard), 8 range 1 target
and:
Stats:
Speed: 10, 8, 8, 8, 7, 7, 6, 6. 1st click has
Phasing/Teleport, 2nd and 3rd have Running Shot.
Attack: 12, 11, 10, 10, 9, 9, 9, 9. First 3 clicks have
Energy Explosion, following 2 have Incapacitate, then he
gets EE for 2 more clicks and then ends with 1 of Psychic
Blast.
Defense: 18, 16, 16, 16, 15, 15, 16, 17. 1st click has
Mastermind, then 2 of Invulnerability, then 3 of Energy
Shield/Deflection and finishes with 2 of Willpower.
Damage: 3, 3, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3. 1st click has RCE, 2nd has
Perplex, 3rd has RCE, 4th and 5th have Perplex, the 6th and
7th have nothing and the last one has Perplex.
Analysis:
His Speed sucks, Phasing should be at the end. The need to
push to get some mobility (which is certainly far from
awesome) is a big hit to this guy’s playability.
His Attack is barely above what one should expect for his
cost. His abilities here suck even more: Incapacitate and
Energy Explosion aren’t great on high weight clicks, let
alone single targeting ones. 1 single click of Psychic Blast
(and in his final click!) means nothing.
His Defense keeps him hard to hit (or sort of) during pretty
much most of his dial. I’m not sure I like those powers, the
way they’re placed. He can’t be healed.
His Damage is slightly lackluster for my taste. A couple of
3’s to begin and end with, and mid-dial 2’s is not good for
167 points. Not even RCE and Perplex (which are nice powers)
will make me say that his damage is ok.
Conclusion: With a so-so Defense, and a mediocre (at best!)
Damage and Speed… and an ok attack with useless abilities, I
can safely give this clix a… drums please…
Speed: I wish he started with running shot and ended
with phasing, If you are using Protected and not using
Fortitude, then the running shot after could work.
Attack: Great values, but the EE and Incap are
wasted with 1 target (I say that a lot don’t I). I wish the
psychic blast was with the Running Shot.
Defense: O Yea, 18 with mastermind. Everything else
is pretty standard.
Damage: Steady 3’s with some RCE and Perplex
throughout, reminds me of a Green Lantern
The Good: High attack values
18 def and mastermind
Able to do some good
damage
Wildcard
The Bad: Incap and EE with 1 target
No frontloaded RS
Short dial for the points
Feats: Fortitude is almost a must, same with
protected. ICWO can help the damage out.
Overall: Hmm…he is a tough piece to call. He has
the good attack values going for him, and the Mastermind
could keep him around almost forever. You are going to need
Lockjaws and Pogs for mastermind fodder though. You need to
play him the same way you would CT Doom. Also, his wildcard
status also gives him great potential. Actually, there is a
lot about this piece that I like, but there is just
something about him that keeps me from wanting to really
feel safe with him. If he is ever hit off that first click,
he will go down and fast.
