Today's review is Shazam!
from Origin
Billy Batson, keeper of the
power of Shazam, now lives in the rock of eternity, and is a
former member of both the JLI and JSA…not too shabby. Oh
yea, he almost killed Supes in KC land, I think that would
have been cool if he did. Next to the Flash, he is my
favorite comic book character.
I like the rookie a lot,
especially the sculpt. I like the fact the experienced has
the JLA team, so you don’t have to waste your team’s actions
on an activation click. He would better if he had
frontloaded HSS, but he doesn’t, so unfortunately he is the
worst of the three. I still say though the best of the
three is the vet, because he has a range. It may be a 3,
but it is still better than nothing.
He is 217 points, 3 range 1
target, 11 clicks of life, a flier, AE dial, and a JSA
member
Speed: After the activation, 3 of HSS, then charge,
Plasticity, and a lot more charge, not bad
Attack: After activation, the values are okay, but
the powers work good with hss and charge
Defense: Imperv, Invuln, CR, then toughness, not
bad, and JSA team can always help with that
Damage: Hey, that is monstrous. On his first click,
he can nail a guy with a heavy object for 8 damage, 9 if he
uses a soda machine, 10 if he nails a crit hit, and 11 if it
is perplexed or ICWO’d up more. That is the ultimate in one
hit kill potential. The EW works with charge, and CCE is
pretty cool with plasticity and CR.
The Good: Long dial
HSS and SS
Huge damage potential
Good attack values
JSA team never hurts
3 range means he
doesn’t have to worry about high defenses from CR
The Bad: Activation click
High point cost makes JSA
usage almost impossible in a 300 point game
Clicks 6 and 7 are when
he is very vulnerable, watch out for getting swarmed
Attack gets low at end
Feats: ICWO and Protected of course help, and
Fortitude is almost a must, Double time is always a waste of
points for use one time in a game, im sorry I just don’t see
the point. Shellhead might be good if you plan to push a
lot, I wouldn’t though.
Overall: I like this click, a lot. He has some
gigantic damage potential, and also has that nifty range
(for when he holds on and says SHAZAM, god I love that). He
is a very solid brick overall, but the attack gets a little
too low at the end. If played smart, he can dominate. He
needs a tk’er, and in a 300 point game Danger room Jean
Grey, vet shazam, and fortitude might be the whole game. In
higher point games, this is a great piece to have. I might
give him a good score more than I normally would if I didn’t
love him so much.
Constructed/Unrestricted: 4 / 5
Sealed/Draft: 4.5 / 5
Overall: 4 / 5
“Heroclix….they’re cool,
addictive, and available….the things practically sell
themselves.”
