Today's review is Hulk from Xplosion
Just in time for Pojo’s summer break, we take a little trip
back in time to review what many people to be the most pure
version of hulk…the Xplosion Unique
He is Unique, 201 points, 0 range, 10 clicks of life, AE
dial, and no team
Speed: Full dial of L/C gets him where he needs to go, but Move and
Shoot beats L/C or Phasing any day
Attack: High like it should be, Super Strength is
nothing great without Charge or HSS
Defense: Average numbers, but full dials of damage
reduction means it takes a lot to take him down
Damage: Pretty good, I think it should be just a bit
higher
The Good: High attack
Long dial with damage
reducers
High Damage
No activation click
The Bad:
Super Strength with no move and shoot
Not mobile
Needs support to get the most out of him
Feats: Not too much works here, but if your spending
these kinds of points, lets make him a 1-man army. First
off, use Shellhead to keep his def high. His stats never
crap out, so pushing isn’t much of a problem. Also, Rip it
up can always keep him smashing away with an object.
Fortitude is another good bet to make sure you get the most
out of those damage reducers.
Overall: Alright, this guy is a monster plain and
simple. Of course, he has his problems. A TK piece is
necessary, because if you just have him trying to move out
with his low movement numbers, he will be hit halfway past
his dial before he even ties someone up. A Lockjaw can even
help, because he can get carried out even faster, then be
able to attack the turn after lockjaw transporter attacks a
different character. He needs a lot of feat help to really
get the most out of him, and, in reality, 9 times out of 10
you are going to use the Ultimates version over him. Ult
Hulk is cheaper, has a higher attack, does more damage, and
has a team ability that can be copied by the rest of the
team. Still, Savage Hulk ain’t bad, just isn’t good enough
to really head a team on his own.
Constructed/Unrestricted: 2.5 / 5
Sealed/Draft: 3 / 5
Overall: 2.5 / 5
“Heroclix….they’re cool, addictive, and available….the things
practically sell themselves.”
