Today's Click of the Day
is
M'onel/Mon-El/Valor
Origin
My first fan mail since joining
Pojo! I say thanks to David who emailed me asking to
review this figure (I was hoping to myself), and
for his nice dials. So about Mon-El.. I guess
Superman saved him and thought he was a weaker form
of himself. Can Mon-El live up to the name of Mini-Supes?
Which is
the best? You take your
pick but I'm going with the Rookie.
Speed -- The starting
Hypersonic Speed won me over to review him. He can
travel a total of 13 squares to nail someone or
swing in close combat. Charge is after so pushing is
accepted. Lengthy line of 9 and 8 until death.
Attack -- 10, the same as
the veteran. Values stay consistent until Mon-El can
do nothing anyway. HSS and Super Strength is one of
the greatest combos in HeroClix.
Defense -- Three clicks of
Invulnerability is pretty good for only 118 points.
16 doesn't look too pleasing next to all the other
numbers but at least it goes low enough to heal.
Damage -- Think statistics:
it's only 3, but who seriously has 3 on their
second-to-last click for that point cost?
Sculpt -- Are all powerful
Legion of Superheroes tiny and give off this weak
and harmless look? The cape whispering in the wind
does look cool though.
Romanco's
Breakdown
~ Inexpensive for his potential
effect on game
~ One big hit and he's stuck with
only a 6 range
~ Risky to push
Strategy:
Just grab and object and shoot out.
Take the strongest guy first and don't be afraid to
use all 10 spaces when running up. If they go
soaring, forget the object and use range.
~ Use In Contact to up the poor
defense or make the attack a little better. If
there's enough space try Fortitude so pesky
Outwitters can't cause you to pile down to click 5
after one turn. If you have an Avenger, slap on
Tbolts. I really like Mon-El. Sadly, my friend
pulled the Rookie; but I got the Exp and Vet! He is
basically Black Adam with 30 points saved, Wildcard
Team and 6 Range. Go get one. ~
Hello everyone. Today we go back to Origins
due to a fan request. It’s M’Onel the heroclix that we’ll be
reviewing. This guy is a Veteran, has 10 clicks of health,
10 range 1 target, Legion of Superheroes TA, flight, no
archenemy and costs 223 points:
Stats:
Speed: 10, 9, 10, 10, 8, 8, 9, 9, 8, 8. First 2 clicks have
HSS, then he gets 4 clicks of Charge, and that’s it.
Attack: 10, 10, 10, 10, 9, 9, 8, 8, 7, 7. First 3 clicks
have Super Strength, then follow 2 clicks with Quake, then 3
with Super Strength again and that’s it.
Defense: 17, 16, 17, 17, 16, 16, 16, 16, 15, 15. First 2
clicks have Impervious, next 3 have Invulnerability, the
rest is Toughness.
Damage: 5, 4, 4, 3, 3, 2, 4, 3, 3, 2. First click has Battle
Fury, CCE for the next 5 clicks and that’s it.
Analysis:
His Speed is fine. Opening HSS with a 10 range is fine, and
so is some Charge as a follow up… and don’t forget he’s a
wildcard.
His Attack I don’t like. He has HSS with Super Strength and
then some Charge and Super Strength; and that’s nice, but
the values are too low for a character over the 200 points.
His Defense is a little lackluster, I think. An extra click
of Impervious wouldn’t be too crazy… either that, or he
needs a slightly higher defense...
His Damage is nice, but only if you get him into close
combats. Otherwise, it’s rather low for a figure his cost.
Conclusion: As you realize, I think that for 223 points this
guy needs a
better attack, and a slightly better defense, and damage.
Yes, I said that
he can work nicely should he be in close combat situations,
but the thing
is… I believe that if you are above the 200 points, you must
be able to
fight well at a distance. With HSS/SS, Charge/SS and CCE, he
seems to be
made to go CC… and that’s no good… if you want that, better
go with V Black
Adam or someone like him.
Still, I’ll give him a rating a tad higher than he deserves,
since he’s a
wildcard and that gives him some potential that other
figures in his class
don’t have.
