Today's review is Deadman from Justice
League
I didn’t really know him until Kingdom Come,
so I am not the one to give him a background. He was pretty
cool in Kingdom Come though.
He is a Unique(Rare), 119 points, 0 range, 5
clicks of life, a flier, and a mystic
Attack – Possession – Give deadman a close or
ranged (assume 4) combat action as a free action. If you
roll successful, deal no damage, and remove deadman from the
board and place him on his card. That character is now
friendly to your force and not your opponents. After doing
an action with said piece, you can release it. Remove all
action tokens from the target and put deadman 4 spaces to
which the target has line of sight. If the target is
possessed at the end of the turn, roll a d6 and add 1 to
that roll for every 100 points (or fraction of) of the
target. On a 6, the target is releasd, on a 5 or less, give
deadman a click of damage. Each time the target takes
damage, deal deadman 1 unavoidable damage after the action
is resolved. Any affect that can cancel the targets power
can cancel possession. If deadman is killed or possession
is countered, the target is released. Deadman or target
character cant be targeted by mind control or possession
Speed: Full dial phasing, not bad
Attack: Pretty consistent actually, not too bad…not
great either
Defense: Nice, stays high and super senses can keep
him around
Damage: 0….yup
The Good: High defense
Consistent attack
Full dial phasing
Mystics
The Bad: No damage
No range
Possession…well it seems fun
Feats: no
Overall: Well, it doesn’t take a genius to tell
you that this piece is meant for fun only. I have been out
of it for a while, so if anyone made a competitive team out
of him PLEASE let me know. That power is a handfull, but
the fact of the matter is that he will be taking so much
damage so fast he probably will not live long other than 1
or two turns. Though, in that time, you could take over a
Thanos or Superman and really hurt the other big players of
your opponent’s team. That could be game breaking right
there. Now, does that seem likely…no. Also, I don’t think
you can perform an action after possessing your target
piece, so that hurts having to wait. Still, it seems like a
really fun thing to try. Like I said, a 5/5 for fun games.
Unfortunately, this is a competitive review, so I hafta be
fair when it comes to tournaments. He gets the half point
for the mystics and chance of major annoyance.
Constructed/Unrestricted: 1.5 / 5
Sealed/Draft: 1.5 / 5
Overall: 1.5 / 5
Fun: 5/5 (had to throw it in there)
“Heroclix….they’re cool, addictive, and
available….the things practically sell themselves.”
