Today's review is Lex Luthor from Justice League
Do I need to say who Lex Luthor is?
He is a Veteran(common), 161 points, 8 range 1 target, 8
clix, a flier, and calculator team
Special Power
Defense – Ruthless – Luthor can use mastermind, but can treat a
friendly figure within 4 clear spaces as if it were
adjacent.
Damage – Everything has a price – Luthor can use perplex. When he
targets a friendly character, roll a d6. On a result of a
1, deal 1 unavoidable damage to the target.
Also, he does fly. The picture on the site is wrong.
Speed: Stealth is always good, and phasing gets him where he needs to go
Attack: Good values whole time. Psy blast gets the
damage through. EE with 1 target sucks, Pulse wave with
high damage I love.
Defense: 16 with Super isn’t great, but 18 is. Rest
of the time average numbers with an improved mastermind.
Damage: Values are awful. Opening outwit is always
good. White power means your basically just going to be
perplexing Luthor or an opponents defense down…thus helping
the whole team.
The Good: 8 range
Hard to hurt
Good attack values
Support powers full dial
Stealth/Psy Blast/Outwit
is one of my favorite combos
Wildcard
The Bad:
Only 8 clicks
Doesn’t do a lot of damage
1 target EE
No move and shoot
Best defense is on second click
Feats: Fortitude I would use because he is cheap
enough to fit it, and it would keep him hard to hit for most
of his dial. Thwart can come in handy. Nanobots works well
for most the dial. Protected is a MUST on those first 2
clicks. In unrestricted bizarro world games, Nova Blast
could tear up.
Overall: Well, here we get in my opinion the most
playable version of Lex Luthor…it only took 5 years to
happen. His attack umbers stay good the whole time, with
powers that he can actually take advantage of. He has
probably one of my favorite opening clicks of all time,
because Stealth/Outwit/and Psy Blast makes him hard to hit,
can help him hit past damage reducers, and STILL be able to
outwit something else. He is a wildcard, which can give him
unlimited potential. Also, he never really craps out
throughout his dial. His damage is low for the most part,
but the powers make sure that the damage will go through.
He has a shallow dial, but can easily run away thanks to
phasing, and the white power on defense will keep him around
seemingly forever. He needs help and mastermind fodder to
be really effectinve, and I think a prob controller can be a
crucial asset. He needs help, and could front a 300 point
team, but he would really shine in 400+ games. Lois Lane
and Alfred Pennyworth are his best friends btw.
Constructed/Unrestricted: 3 / 5
Sealed/Draft: 2.25 / 5 (not enough TA’s to work with)
Overall: 3 / 5
“Heroclix….they’re cool, addictive, and available….the things
practically sell themselves.”
