ANALYSIS:
Cheap Stealthed Outwit is a Heroclix staple, and
Rookie Question here is the latest source of it. His
TA equals permanent Stealth and Smoke Cloud enables
him to make his own hindering terrain. Combat
Reflexes is the perfect defense power, since his
stealth forces opponents to fight him in close.
Unfortunately, with an Attack Value that sinks from
a mediocre 8 down to 6, he's not much in a fight.
But with Outwit on both ends of his dial, he fills
that classic "Pit Crew"
mode well.
FEATS?
FLASHBANG is a cheap choice to keep him mobile yet
stealthed. DAMAGE SHIELD works on all but his last
click and since his TA will force most opponents to
attack in close, it's a good choice. His bookending
Outwit makes him a great fit with either DISSENT or
THWART.
IN SUM:
R Black Panther is retired and Starter Icons Batman
will be this summer, so say hi to R Question. He
lacks BP's t-boltable flexibility and Batman's
mobility, but sports more Outwit than either.
RATING: Just 3.5 of 5 alone, but he'll grace many a
Wizard World team.
ANALYSIS:
Stealthed Perplex isn't quite the gamebreaker that
stealth-Outwit is. More battle-worthy than his
Rookie incarnation, Experienced Question is more of
a 3rd-string attacker/support fig, especially with
him gaining Probability Control later
FEATS?
Nothing really worth adding; his strength is in his
low cost. If anything, stick to the
10-points-and-below stuff like SNEAK, ARMOR
PIERCING, or SWINGLINE. (Don't fully recommend
NANOBOTS -- that feat requires more at-will mobility
than he has).
ETC.
Reflects his strange mini-series from a few years
back.
IN SUM:
Not bad, not stellar. Best used as point filler or
if you need a Perplexer who can fight some.
ANALYSIS:
Opening Stealth Outwit returns on the Vet Question,
but that's it. A great deal of Perplex follows,
enabling him to fill that role as well. But his real
strength is his ability to tangle with figures out
of his weight class -- whether through Outwit,
Perplex, Close Combat Expert or Incapacitate, he
never lacks a way to damage Impervious/Invulnerable
foes. His late-dial AV upswing along with a lot of
Willpower could really sway a game's progress, too.
FEATS?
After his first click, DAMAGE SHIELD works for the
rest of his life. RUNNING START or SWINGLINE help
his mobility out of the bushes. FLASHBANG and SNEAK
could help him stay undercover or get to his target
respectively. Stick less than 10 points of feats on
him.
ETC.
"52" fans, this is your Question, filling the gap
left by the big Bat's absence.
IN SUM:
Like the others, he's a fine combination of support
and brawler, but better than the rest at the latter
by far.
Here is the example of a
character that can be saved from obscurity by a cartoon
show. I never even knew of him until I saw him on Justice
League Unlimited. Because of that, he was featured heavily
during the 52 storyline. He died recently, but not before
training his replacement, Renee Montoya.
The Vet has some great stats,
but is too much of a sitting duck once he is off those
starting stealth clicks. The experienced is basically a
perplexor who can attack, but probably wont because he has
no range and no move and attack powers.
The best of the three is the
rookie
He is 40 points, 0 range 1
target, 5 clicks of life, no AE, and a Batman Ally
Attack: Ugh, bad values, but the smoke cloud can get
him hiding
Defense: Stealth and CR I like, because most of the
time they will need to be close to attack, then they need to
put up with a 17 defense
Damage: HERE WE GO…FRONTLOADED OUTWIT. That is why
he is useful
The Good: Batman team
Stealth/outwitter
The Bad: Awful attack values
No movement powers
besides team ability
Low damage
Feats: Thwart or Dissent if you want, but I think
the value comes from the low cost
Overall: Okay, the reason this is the best of the
three is for one simple reason, he will be the games newest
cheap Stealthed outwitter once Icons is gone. His values
are a little better than Black Panther’s, but BP was
cheaper. He is by no means the Icons Starter Batman, but
this is the closest we are going to get for a long time.
The team ability is great to be copied, and the Outwit
always helps. He is the new Icons batman, just without the
offensive potential. I can guarantee you he will be seen in
big numbers once the new retirement starts up.
Constructed/Unrestricted: 3.5/ 5
Sealed/Draft: 4 / 5
Overall: 3.5 / 5
“Heroclix….they’re cool,
addictive, and available….the things practically sell
themselves.”

The Question
Which is the Best?:
The rookie reminds me of
Black Panther but 40 points too pricy for just Stealth
and Outwit. Experienced does nothing for me, which
leaves the Veteran
Question.
He is 61
points; Grounded; No Team; 0 Range; 1 Bolt

Speed
-- Okay values and Stealth is great. Not much to say
here.
Attack
-- It's a shame he has 0 Range or maybe Smoke Cloud
could have come in handy. I guess if he is somehow
knocked out of the bushes here comes a Cloud to cover
up. Incapacitate is wasted points. STRAIGHT 10s, three
of them!
Defense
-- Front-loaded Willpower.. too bad he won't really need
it. Combat Reflexes will basically always help due to
the Stealth. Those last few clicks just got better: more
Willpower!
Damage
-- Who cares if Outwit only lasts 1 click; it shows at
full health. I like Perplex afterward to enhance the low
attack. Wow, so after taking 4 damage, Question can do 4
damage.
Sculpt
-- I have a question for The Question: do you have a
face?
Romanco's Breakdown
~ Basic support
piece/3rd string attacker until last clicks
~ Defense is always
high
~ Question is good
but he's missing one intangible to make him great:
range. Will he even need range with Stealth and CCE? Not
really. But does a competitor honestly expect him to
keep Outwitting from afar until the opponent sends a
brick over? You answer that because to me, I don't feel
I'm using Question's 61 points of potential. Of course
he can just attack the brick back with ease, but won't
it take more than 2 clicks to ruin a brick? So..playable?
All these QUESTIONS will be answered when you try THE
QUESTION out. ~
The Question receives
3/5.
