Today's review is Booster
Gold from Origin
Michael John Carter came to
our time from the 25th century with stolen
technology, fashioning himself a suit to become a hero. He
became a member of the JLI, got owned by Doomsday, got a new
outfit made by Blue Beetle (Ted Kord), tried to own an
island or something (always confused me), and then fell into
obscurity for a while. Recently, he has been seen in the
phenomenal “Formerly known as…” and “I can’t believe its not
the Justice League.” Also, he has some busy time in
Infinite Crisis and 52.
He is one of my favorite
comic characters, so I kind of hoped for something out of
his click. The old booster was a glorified taxi with range,
and the new one they tried to do more to make him an
attacker.
The best versions out of the
REV is the V because of his move and shoot with charge, but
I like the LE the best because you save 10 points and get to
take advantage of his range thanks to a click of running
shot.
He is an LE, 70 points, 8
range 1 target, 7 clicks of life, a flier, no AE, and no
team
Speed: A single click of running shot followed by
two of charge, not bad
Attack: Charge works with super strength, values
aren’t great and drop really low
Defense: Average values, toughness keeps him alive a
little longer, barrier can always help, ESD can make the
defense a little harder to heal
Damage: 3 damage is always alright, and the
enhancement and perplex can help out his teammates
The Good: 8 range is never bad
Decent ranged and close
combat abilities
Perplex, barrier, and
enhancement can help
The Bad: Low attack values
Damage is bad after
click three
Feats: ICWO is a must for his attack, Nanobots can
help him heal, Protected can hit him onto his perplex click
Overall: I really like the character, but I am not
so sure about his click. This game is about range, and move
and shoot, and the LE has both. He doesn’t have the
slightly higher attack values or the probability control,
but he has abilities that can help a team. When used right,
enhancement can really make some of your pieces damage
givers, and perplex always helps. The problem is that he is
not much of a threat at all, and 70 points is a lot to play
for a support piece/third string attacker. He is really
good for Justice League teams, but outside of that you won’t
see him in competitive play. This is the only version of
the character I have, so I will be using him a lot. For fun
games, he is your best bet at a Booster Gold.
Constructed/Unrestricted: 2.5 / 5
Sealed/Draft: N/A / 5
Overall: 2.5 / 5

addictive, and available….the things practically sell
themselves.”
